Touch Pro Controllers paired with Quest 2 - Quest Link freezes/crashes after a few seconds

Ryudar

I bought the new Touch Pro Controllers for my Quest 2 and when I open Quest Link, it takes around 3 seconds until it freezes/crashes and I can't do anything except closing Link (the menu for closing it is still available). If SteamVR is running and I get right into it, skipping the Quest Link Menu, same, 3-4 seconds and crash.

As soon as I pair the original controllers, everything works fine. I've updated everything, controllers had a firmware update, so...

Anyone else with that problem?

Hey there @Ryudar, we see you are having issues with your new Touch Pro Controllers. We understand how troublesome this may be, but we're here to assist you all that we can. Just to narrow down some factors that could be causing this, can you provide us the following?

  • Are you experiencing this issue with both controllers?
  • Have you restarted the controllers?
  • Try manually pairing the over pairing from the mobile app?

If you have done an other troubleshooting steps, please let us know as well. Hope to hear back from you soon!

Hello!

- Yes, with both Touch Pro Controllers. As soon as I pair the original Quest 2 Controllers, Quest Link works as it should without crashing/freezing. I've tried this multiple times and it's 100% the Touch Pro Controllers.

- I've restarted the controllers multiple times

- I always pair them via the mobile app. Is there another possibility?

Both of the controllers where fully charged. They work in the Quest 2 Main menu.

Hey @RyudarIf you are encountering issues pairing your controllers or getting them to show up in VR, you can try a couple of things listed below:

  1. While in VR, hold the controllers at eye level, pointing in front so that the cameras on the controller can see the surroundings.
    1. Move the controller around slowly for the controllers to start tracking.
  2. Go through the Meta Quest app and unpair/pair the controllers.
  3. Restart the controller by holding down the power button (Oculus/menu) for 1 to 2 seconds.
  4. Try waking them up by quickly pressing the Oculus or Menu buttons.
  5. Try pressing and holding the Oculus button for 5 to 10 seconds.
    1. If the controllers re-center, then at least the controller Bluetooth is connected. This means it’s likely the controller is not tracking.
    2. Try rebooting the controller by holding down the Oculus/Menu button until you see the lights change.
  6. If that does not work, manually pair the controller using commands:
    1. To enter pairing mode on each controller, press and hold the Oculus+B (right) or Menu+Y buttons (left) for 3 seconds. You'll feel a light vibration from the front trigger when the controller transitions into pairing mode.
  7. You can also try a couple of button combinations to get the controllers to appear:
    1. Force power off the controllers by holding down B or Y for 15 seconds.
    2. Turn them back on by short pressing the Oculus or Menu buttons.

Once you have attempted this, let us know if this worked for you. If yo have questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out we are happy to help.

Ah...yes...but I don't have any issues with pairing the controllers... please read my first post.

My Quest Link is crashing when the Pro Controllers are paired.

Hey there @Ryudar. We understand that you are having issues with your Quest link and your Meta Quest Pro controllers. I would like to humbly inform you that at the moment the Quest Link is only compatible with the Quest 2 headset. Unfortunately, the firmware that supports the Quest Link is only compatible with the Quest 2 headset and not the Meta Quest Pro controllers. I hope that was able to answer your question. If you still have questions or concerns on this please don't hesitate to reach out. We are here for you.

I'm having the same problem as @Ryudar.   as well as this:   Paring the pro controllers to my Quest 2 was easy,   But, when I put my headset on. I am unable to get the pro controllers to land on the dot code to open my Quest.     The tracking is floating and not steady and won't touch the dots to turn them blue to connect the dots.     Upset after spending 300.00 for these supposedly amazing controllers.... I can't afford a quest Pro

If this can't be fixed, then please inform me how to return them and get my money back.    I am a reporter in News and Updates in AltspaceVR and I was supposed to review them and report....   so far not a good report

Marsha

Hi there,

I have contact with the support team over e-mail.

It's not true that the controllers are not compatible with LINK and that's the second wrong answert I got here in the forums.

I kind of found a fix for the issue: Switching to a different cable (I used the original cable with USB-C to USB_C and switched to a USB-A to USB-C from a third party seller). I get some hickups sometimes, but it seems to work now. Funny is, that the normal Quest 2 controllers still work with the original cable.

thanks for this thread.  I'm interested in using the quest pro controllers on the desktop as 6dof input for a few apps, but without the headset.  Glad I found this thread before I purchased them since I was hoping to use  my quest 2 w link.  It would be great if Meta decided to support desktop mode for the pro controllers so we could use 6dof two handed 3D input on TV's like Dreams etc.
