Touch controller spinning/spiraling out from real hand..

Nikorasu

Every once in a while, maybe every 5-10 minutes or so, even when in view of both cameras, I've noticed one of my hands, usually the left hand, but sometimes the right too, will start spinning/vibrating a bit, which gets worse over the next couple seconds, until the virtual hand/controller is violently spiraling around where my real hand is positioned. Then, after another couple seconds, it pops back to normal and stops, till it happens again a little later.

At first I noticed it in Medium, cause I spent a few hours in that, but I just noticed it in Home too, so now I know it happens across everything. 😞

Just a word or 2 to react at a remark : Yes, reflective surfaces influence badly those new technology (Lighthouses and Constellations sensor), and that's expected. It's very difficult to prevent this to happen, and very difficult to avoid in our modern environment. I experimented this with a window in my office where the unique sensor was diagonally opposed to the window (imagine a line from sensor=>me=>window) and I had to move the sensor the other side of my monitor to avoid screen jumping. Also, a candle which was burning behind me made the screen jumping several times per minutes. That's logical if you think about it, candle must emit dancing IR light, reflection create a position which don't exist, etc. Computing the fact than a device is detected as a symmetry so it's a reflection and sensors must ignore it could have been really process intensive. I don't think Vive/Oculus track those kind of cases, or from a very basic algorithm...

Edit: and BTW, Cybereality confirmed in another thread they found some bugs which can explain the spiral problem some touch meet, and they still investigate for other problems, and they will provide a fix when possible.

Here is another one new to this issue. I got my brand new Touch-Controller today and after playing a bit the right hand starts to move out of the place. Sometimes it warps all over the place. It doesn't matter how far or near i am to any of my three sensors. With my smartphone cam, i have looked for some issues with the sensor-leds. But there are all complete rows functional.
The tracking on my left controller and the HMD is completely fine. No issues there.
Restarting Home seems to fix this issue for some time. But it is really annoying.

I hope there will be a fix soon.

I have the same problem here, right hand goes crazy even no matter the position of it. I've tried to reconnect everything, change the usb ports, recalibrate from scratch and so on, sometimes it works for a while but it ends up with the same problem, right hand goes crazy, start to vibrate without stop and so on, so it's unusable right now here

Ya know, I'd be a heck of a lot happier if you told us Home had an update BEFORE just downloading it (and BTW - evidently the download limits don't apply to Home?).  I just spent 20 minutes trying to figure out what the hell was swamping my bandwidth so bad nobody in the whole house could do anything online.

Also PLEASE consider letting us manage the bandwidth home updates will take??

Can anyone whom was having this issue report back now that we had an Oculus Home software update please. And also report back any changes or lack of changes to the support staff if you had a ticket open.

Well, I just encountered the spiraling issue again, about 5 minutes ago.. so no change yet..  Dono if I got the update yet tho. I'm on Oculus App Version 1.10.1.315586 (1.10.1.315393)
EDIT: I don't think I've updated yet, other people have said they've got 1.10.2.something

For me, too. The update doesn't solve this issue unfortunatly. 😞

Hey!

I have just seen this issue (software 10.1.x):

In RipCoil my right (virtual) hand hand just spiraled around its real position for maybe 2 seconds, then snapped back into place. Rest of game was fine.

That was after being into the rift for maybe one hour, playing henry and the unspoken and just after having started Ripcoil. Was still in the process of game (practice) selection.

However, the incident lasted only two seconds. I just continued in the game for maybe half an hour without any problems.

That was still with the 10.1.x software.

I've had this problem too of my hand spiraling it happens in quill just for few seconds then it snaps back. I have a 2 sensor setup diagonally of me. I wonder if the sensors are getting enough power
