Tracking Lost Loop

whenever I turn on my quest 2, it shows the meta symbol, then shows th "tracking lost" notification. If I press "continue", it shows my home for a split second, before going right back to the "tracking lost" screen. Has anyone else had this problem recently? If so, has there been anyway for you to fix it for more than ten minutes at a time?

Hey anizez! We couldn't help but notice you were having some lost tracking issues with your headset, and we know that can be pretty discouraging to have it re-loop every 10 minutes. We'd be more than glad to help out! 

 

To ask a couple questions, does the issue pop up in different rooms/locations? Also, have you tried any troubleshooting already so to not repeat any steps?

 

Sometimes the sensors can get dusty and cause some tracking issues. The following link here will take you to the best practices for cleaning your sensors. 

 

Some other basic steps that could help out are as follows:

  • Power cycle your headset by holding the power button down for roughly 20-30 seconds
  • Check your lighting to not be too bright or too dark
  • Reboot your headset:
    • Turn off your headset.
    • Press and hold the power and volume down buttons together until the boot menu loads.
    • Use the volume buttons to highlight the 'Exit and boot' option then press the power button.

Thank you so much for reaching out so quickly, and to answer your questions, I have tried it in three separate rooms, all with the same effect. Before I had typed the original post, I had tried cleaning the cameras, resetting the system through the power off screen, and turning it off and on again. After I had seen your response, I followed the steps you had laid out, but after a few tries of each, none of them have yet worked. Are there any other steps that might help?

Thank you very much for the update anizez. We do have one more thing we would suggest which might not sound ideal, but has been found to fix tracking issues. Before trying a factory reset, you can check which of your games and data would be saved by our Cloud backup with the steps found in the link here.

 

To factory reset your headset, you can repeat the previous steps as the reboot, but when the menu pops up just be sure to choose the 'Factory Reset' option instead.
