Tracking problems, uninstalled Oculus now cannot reinstall (Can't connect to server)

A few days ago I suddenly started having head tracking issues. I'd never experienced this issue previously. FYI I'm not using touch, just the single sensor. The view will randomly move or 'jitter' then return to the centered view. Its extremely disorienting and has rendered my rift unusable.

After trying every combination of USB ports and upgrading my gfx drivers (gtx970) I decided to try reinstalling the Oculus software and drivers.

Now when I try to install I get the 'can't connect' error.

I've attatched a copy of my setup log file. I'd appreciate any help as I'm at my wits end on this.

Bump for support. My rift is totally useless at the moment because I can't install the software. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Do this:

Goto the file folder where oculus is installed

find: oculus/support/oculus-runtime/OVRserver_x64

open it, let it run for a few moments, then open: OculusVR

That should do it.

Thanks for the reply.

I don't have the oculus software installed. I keep getting the error that it can't connect to oculus server when I try to install. Is there a fix for this?

Try temporarily disabling anti-virus or security software before installing. It looks like the Oculus service is being blocked, and most likely it is some sort of security software blocking it. Also, feel free to submit a support ticket.

I have no anti-virus currently and tried installing with firewall disabled. I'm still getting the same can't connect error. I submitted a ticket and hope to hear something back soon.

OK, please let me know how that goes.

I discovered a work around just after submitting the ticket.

Running the installer as an administrator would simply give me the error "Can't connect to server". I noticed if I didn't run it as an administrator it would instead say I must install updates KB2670838 and KB3033929 before continuing. I confirmed both of these updates were already installed. I followed the advice I found in this post in the support forum to type:
OculusSetup.exe /bypassHotfixCheck  (in the directory the installer is located in)

That allowed me to install the software without issue.

I haven't had much time to verify but thus far it seems my tracking problems have been corrected by reinstalling.
