Trouble Connecting Meta Quest to SteamVR – Air Link and Wired Issues

Hello everyone,
I'm reaching out because I'm having trouble connecting my Meta headset (META QUEST 3) to SteamVR on my PC. Here's a breakdown of what I've tried and the issues I've encountered:

  1. Meta App Connection: I successfully connected my PC to the headset via the Meta app. No issues here. The connection is established using Air Link.
  2. Wired Connection: When trying to connect the headset to the PC via cable, it doesn't seem to detect the PC. (As a side note, I’m wondering if the cable itself might be faulty.)
  3. Ethernet vs. Wi-Fi: When my PC is connected to Ethernet, Air Link doesn't work as it can't find the PC. However, when I switch to Wi-Fi, the Air Link connection works fine.
  4. SteamVR: I managed to connect SteamVR (I believe through SteamLink), as I was prompted with a verification code, which I successfully entered on my PC. However, when I open SteamVR, it says that no headset is connected.
  5. SteamLink Behavior: I’m also not sure if SteamLink stays active once launched. Sometimes it feels like it shuts off, but I’m unclear if SteamLink needs to stay open in the background for everything to work.

If anyone has suggestions on what I can try or things I might have missed, I’d really appreciate it! Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey there @jeremie49000,

 

1 - no issues! Sounds like you can use Air Link. 

2 - Please double check that you are using a USB 3.0 port on your computer for this.

3 - Your PC will need to be connected to the same wireless network to be detected.

4 - We have no insight into third-party applications such as SteamVR, but if we try to resolve your cable issue then this might also resolve your steam issue

5 - Please see 4.
