Trouble with adding second account Quest 3

ZatriX
Explorer

Hi all,

I have just added a second account to my Quest 3, and unlike other topics I was able to find on this subject, the actual pairing went well and the account is added.

The trouble, though, is this: it doesn't get past calibration. After setting the boundary, it iterally says "now explore on your own, press the Meta button and enjoy" or something along these lines. However, long-pressing Meta button does nothing - it fills the circle as it should, but the headset is stuck in the same screen, The only way to exit is to reboot.

The primary account is working fine. Tried to re-create secondary account twice as well. Help 🙂

Hey there, @zatrix! We understand how important it is to get your second account up and running on your headset. Let's work together to get this figured out!

To begin, let's answer a couple of questions:

  • You mentioned that you had to reboot your headset. Beyond rebooting, did you perform any other troubleshooting?
    • Please let us know, as we don't want to repeat any steps you may have already taken.
  • Are you using any third-party accessories? If so, please remove them.
    • This would include things such as controller covers or attachments.

In addition, let's do the following:

  1. Please ensure that headset tracking is turned on.
    • Click on the clock on the left side of the universal menu.
    • Select Settings.
    • Select System from the Settings panel.
    • Select Headset Tracking from the left-side panel.
    • Make sure Headset Tracking is checked.
  2. Clear your boundary history.
    • Press the Oculus/Meta logo on your right controller.
    • Click on the clock on the left side of the universal menu.
    • Select Settings.
    • In the settings panel, select Boundary.
    • Select 'Clear Boundary History'.
    • Attempt to redraw your Guardian boundaries again by selecting 'Adjust Boundary' from the Boundary settings menu - if it locks up again, continue to the next step.
  3. Reboot the headset.
    • Turn the headset off, wait a minute or two, then turn it back on.
      • A restart is a little different, so turning the headset off is recommended over just restarting.

Please let us know how this goes. We are more than happy to continue helping, if needed!

Hi there,

To answer your questions - no other troubleshooting was performed. No third-party accesories either. Headset tracking is on.

Pressing meta button doesn't do anything in the secondary account as I have mentioned in my original post - it is stuck on now explore on your own, press the Meta button and enjoy"

Hey there, @zatrix! We can understand that this can be a bit of a headscratcher as to why this is only affecting this secondary account and not your main account. So we do want to confirm if you have completed the previous troubleshooting provided to make sure we are able narrow this down. Beyond this troubleshooting previously provided, we have seen some cases where a controller setting to swap the Meta/Oculus button functionality on the right controller and the Menu button on the left controller, so you may try using the other button to see if that helps. Also we recommend trying short presses instead of holding down the buttons as well. If you need to enable or disable this feature, you can do so through the settings from the devices, then controller menu. We hope this helps, but if you still run into issues with this, please reach back out and we will continue working with you to make sure everyone can use the headset as desired!
