I decided that I want to return my quest 3. Mainly due to WiFi connectivity issue with 6GHz and poor comfort of face interface. I wanted to start the process through my meta account since I bought directly from Meta. Before confirming return process there is an information displayed to make sure that the returned device's serial number needs to match {serial number here}.
The box serial number was alright but I wanted to double check and when I looked at the inner part of headstrap the serial number was different.
Now I don't know what to do. Is meta going to accept my return?
The serial number on the box is for the complete package of headset, controllers, charger etc. The serial number on the individual components will be different.

Whoever sees this and needs to return theirs… it looks like non of the serial numbers match up! This bull**bleep** just happened to me at target. The denied me, so I went and bought another one and had them open it!!!! Needless to say they looked dumb after I was right and had to return both sets…don’t let these idiots best you!
I’m having the same situation with Walmart. They won’t grant my return because they said the s/n doesn’t match. I just bought mine 3 days ago from the Walmart I’m trying to return to. Very frustrating and makes you look like a scammer when really meta quest just making us look like fools.
Follow my advice and they will have no choice but to take it back!…just make sure you buy it and have them open it right there at the electronics. Then have those people come up to the customer service with you to explain.
Hey, I’m just wondering, I wanted to replace my Quest 3 but I don’t have the box anymore. The Quest Support person on WhatsApp said I needed the Box serial number along with a bunch of other information (which I have) but I don’t have the box to check the number. Do you have any suggestions?

You should really put out a notification to all your retail sales locations because none of them have any idea what's going on. I just came across the same issue at Best buy and I had to pull this up just to prove that each piece of equipment has a different serial number.
