USB C liquid Issue

SIRRRR

Hi all! It's 2025 and every time I play I'm getting the "Liquid or debris detected in USB-C charging port" error. has anyone found a true fix to this that's manual? Can we have in developer options a toggle to turn this notification off? It's been driving me crazy and want to find a fix to this ASAP. Are other people experiencing this as well? Via previous forum posts, they apparently updated this and "fixed" the issue with an update, but that does not seem to be the case.

Thank you in advance!

Hi @SIRRRR

Thanks for reaching out! Here are some things you could try:

Required Equipment:

  1. A disposable Soft Bristle Toothbrush. The toothbrush must be New and Dry to avoid recontamination of the USB port.
  2. A paper towel, napkin, or cloth. The cloth must be Dry and Clean to avoid recontamination of the USB port.

Warning:

  1. Do not use a pre-pasted toothbrush!
  2. Do not use any liquid or solvent such as isopropyl or bleach.
  3. Wear gloves and safety glasses or a face shield.
  4. Discard the toothbrush after cleaning.

Instructions:

  1. Power off the device. Remove all accessories.
  2. In a circular motion, brush and clean inside the USB-C port using the soft bristle toothbrush.
  3. Make sure the toothbrush bristles are getting deep inside the connector and moving around the inner tongue.
  4. Do not press down on the toothbrush too hard.
  5. In a scooping motion, use the toothbrush to help the liquid come out of the USB-C port.
  6. Use a paper towel or a dry cloth to absorb and clean the liquid and debris around the port.
  7. Let the device dry at room temperature in a well-ventilated area for at least 1 hour (varies).
  8. Do not connect a USB cable to the device until the port is completely dry.
  9. Do not attempt to charge and do not use the device until the USB-C port is completely dry.
  10. Alternatively, use a can of Compressed Air to blow inside the USB-C port with 3 bursts. (Safety glasses and PPE must be worn per manufacturing recommendation)

We hope this helps! If your issue persists please do not hesitate to reach back out to us as we are always happy to help!

I'm ready to give up on Quest altogether. Brand spanking new Quest 3, fresh out of its box, and it pops up the same **bleep** error as yours. Meta had better fix this, or they may be looking at a class-action lawsuit.
