Issue:
Game breaks external usb microphones powered by wireless dongles. Does NOT break user's ability to hear with or without external microphone enabled. |
Expected cause:
Games with internal voicechat lobbies break external USB dongle-based wireless mics.
Hardware Environment:
Headset - Meta Quest 3 headset,
External third party devices - Vega T1 Wireless Gaming Earbuds, Vega T1 Wireless dongle. (dongle provides faster/lower latency connection to earbuds. Device does not count as "bluetooth earbuds" as a result in the bluetooth system menu.)
Software Environment:
Messenger app, group call or call to single person.
Dungeons of Eternity app.
Steps to reproduce:
1.) Enable experimental external bluetooth mic.
2.) Connect vega dongle to USB-C port
3.) Take earbuds out of charging case, they pair with the dongle immediately.
4.) Reboot meta quest 3.
5.) Can hear meta quest sounds just fine via earbuds. Can converse using external mic just fine when using the messenger app.
6.) Launch dungeons of eternity. (Messenger app voice still working as of this point.)
7.) Invite someone to your game, or join someone else's game. (Messenger app and in-game voice both fail to use the external mic. Nobody can hear you now. Not in game, not in your messenger app call. Leaving the call and starting a new one doesn't fix it. Trying to talk in game only doesn't fix it.)
Bonus note: The normal internal mic works in messenger app and dungeons of eternity work as expected and keep full functionality. This indicates to me that the apps aren't able to share use of the dongle-based USB-C mics the same way they can the internal normal microphone.

Hey, @Gairickson! 🙂 I hope all is well. Diving deeper into this issue, I got an update from the Internal team, and they recommended submitting a bug report as the next best step. This way, the engineers can review the issue. If you're having issues submitting the bug report, you can submit one by using your headset and/or the Meta Quest mobile app. If you need any clarification, please feel free to let me know.

Any update on this issue having the exact same issue which is unfortuniate as i would really like to use earbuds to hear would even be fine if we could set the mic to be used to use the internal mic instead of the dongle
