USB stick with OTG Adapter on Oculus Quest 2

Hi Guys,
I've recently bought an Oculus Quest 2 64 GB and currently trying to watch videos on my USB Stick via Big Screen and Pigasus VR Media Player on the headset. I've got an USB-C to USB 3.0 OTG adapter which I use to connect the USB stick to the headset. I've already formatted the filetype on my USB Stick to FAT32 as I'm aware that's the only USB filetype currently supported by Oculus Quest. When I connect the USB stick to the headset via the adapter, the headset recognizes that I've connected something as I hear a sound but then I'm unable to find the USB stick on any of the apps. I've tried following instructions on the Oculus support page which states that I should find 'Connect media' on Oculus Gallery but the app is no longer available on Quest 2. Are USB sticks supported on the Quest 2 or not? If yes, what are the instructions for accessing USB storage on the Quest 2? Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated as one of the reasons I got the headset was to watch 3D movies on the go as I thought the Quest headsets supported media playback via USB. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Oculus has disabled usb storage for both the quest 1 and the quest 2.  There is a very complicated workaround for it but you are probably better off either transferring the content directly to the headset when you want to watch it or setting up some kind of media server on your PC.

I just tried this too, used a type C to regular USB type A socket and connected an SDHC card reader with a card in it. Heard the sound of something being connected.

so I side-loaded a file explorer and it can see the USB stick as a device but it cannot open the storage device at all, it's greyed out, so it's quite possibly something basic like a permissions issue.

oh, I have an OQ1, but I can't imagine the system configurations on udev or selinux are any different.

Sorry to revive an old thread but Im dealing with this same issue. Would you mind sharing with me the app you sideloaded? I have tons of media i would like to watch but dont want to load it all on the headset either. Thank you...

I  used sidequest to load Total Commander Total Commander for Android - APK Download (apkpure.com)

I then ran total commander from the apps list (Unknow Apps) and was able to see an icon for USB drive. However I was using a 64gb drive and it would not open. Am going to try a 16gb fat32 micro SD card tonight with a micro SD to USBC connector. We will see if that works.

How did it work out for you scubabatdan? I also am getting a sound when i plug in a thumb drive, but cant find it on total commander. Does formatting to fat32 fix the issue? Thanks.

Nope, fat 32 did not solve the problem that icon is still grayed out and I cannot access any of the data on the USB stick. So it may have been disabled during an update IDK.
