Unable to buy any games, add other payment methods or buy quest credits.

This is becoming a joke.   For several weeks I have not been able to buy any games via the meta store, using either the app or the headset.   I get a cryptic message 'This feature is unavailable to you....'

I get the same message, if I try and add an alternative payment method, such as paypal.   I can't even delete and attempt to renter my existing credit card details  (get the same message)

I've sent several messages to support.   Only once did they come back to say that they had tweaked something at their end and asked me to try again in 24 hours.   No transparency as to the nature of the problem.   

Really is rubbish!!  I am becoming increasingly frustrated having spent $500 on a headset which I cannot use and which I'm not getting any support.   Each time I send a note to Meta quest asking for an update and a response quoting my ticket reference number.   I just get an automated response and they issue another ticket reference number

Having same problem.  Card continuously declined but there is more than enough to cover the amounts required.  Can't add other cards.  Nothing is working to solve this problem.  Cloudstrik issue maybe?

We understand that you're unable to add a payment method, hence unable to purchase any apps or games for Meta Quest. We will do our best to assist you.

Firstly, kindly follow these troubleshooting steps below:

1. Try to add a payment method to the account from the Meta Horizon mobile app, by checking the link for Add or remove a payment method on Meta Store and Meta Horizon Store .
a. If not successful via the App, try by logging into the Meta account website and navigating to Other Settings > Payment Methods.
b. If not successful, try using a different browser.

2. Try adding the payment method from another device completely (another computer, phone, or tablet.)

3. Try adding the payment method from within virtual reality by using the headset.

4. Try adding the payment method while connected to a different network (another Wi-Fi network or a cellular data connection on a phone, if available).

  • Some non-residential networks may cause this issue. (for example, business, public, government, military, etc.)
  • Certain network security settings may cause this issue, even on residential networks for example, antivirus, firewall, proxy, router-specific settings).

Same insanity here. I paid $500 for this thing and I haven't been able to purchase a single app or game. I have $30 in quest cash on my account, but if I try to spend that I get an error that tells me the feature is not available. The feature of making a purchase, apparently.

There are no other forms of payment on my account, so I spent hours talking with meta support trying to add payment methods through the Oculus Link app and The Meta horizons app and the Oculus web store and through the headset and clearing caches and using private browsers and restarting and logging in and out of everything a hundred times. Nothing worked.

Anytime I try to add a credit card payment method I get told there's an error and they're unable to add my payment method. The funniest one is if I try to add PayPal as a payment method it actually goes through all of the steps and PayPal authorizes it. And in the brief few seconds when PayPal is redirecting me back to whatever meta site or app, I'm trying to make my purchase in my phone beeps that I have an email, and when I look it's an email from PayPal telling me that meta has canceled my recurring billing.

I paid them $500 for this headset, but apparently other than that they don't want a single penny from me and they don't want me to be able to use it for a **bleep** thing. The extremely frustrating part of this is looking for help online. I found out how insanely easy it is to download all of the apps and programs in less official ways and to use them without needing any kind of payment method. But I'm genuinely trying to make purchases and support. VR. And after hours of chatting with different support people and trying hoping every single day it's different. Nothing changes. How is it possible that meta is this incompetent?

Absolutely. None of those steps to a single thing to help any of us that have this issue. We cannot add payment methods. It will not let us. It's not an issue with a single site or a single app or caching problems or needing to use a private browser or being connected to some nefarious Network connection that's playing evil tricks on us.

There is something wrong with our actual accounts. Some sort of flag. I've seen people on other forums say that they found out it had something to do with a Facebook ad restriction. And when I spoke with meta support they told me Facebook would have to fix that if that was the problem, and when I talked to Facebook support they told me that since I'm not having any problems with Facebook and the services I can't use are the medicquest services. It's the meta support people that need to fix it.

And all any of you do is copy and paste the exact same canned response you just gave us. I've read it a dozen times by now. It's garbage. Copying and pasting a canned response that is not technical support. Technical support is doing work on your end to figure out what is wrong on your end. That is causing so many of your customers to have this insane problem.

Exactly what I was seeing.  I say ‘was’ because it is now working.  I can only presume that Meta made some changes at their end to my account because I didn’t do anything at my end.  It’s poor and not transparent what is going on.  Good luck. 

Spot on. Well said - clearly an issue at their end but they put stock responses on this site that make us just waste our time.
