Unable to cast from Quest 2 to Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 SM-T500

I'm unable to cast video from Quest 2 to our Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 SM-T500. The tablet will connect and receive audio, but video will not cast. Both the oculus and tablet are on the same wifi network. I have no issues when casting to my Samsung Note phone, both audio and video are solid over the same wifi network.

Hey Xmetal68! We see that you are having casting issues. We certainly understand the importance of wanting to share your experiences. When casting to mobile devices, we do want you to know that some may not be equipped with the casting requirements that are needed. Your phone may have these casting options while your tablet may not. No worries, we will work with you to see what is going on. Here are a few things you can try:

  • Make sure that both devices are connected to the 5Ghz and not the 2.4Ghz. The latter may work but could cause issues with display quality or loss.
  • When casting to mobile devices, both devices must be logged into the same account.
  • Try rebooting the headset and immediately sign into casting before signing in to other apps.

We hope this helps, but if you are still experiencing issues we would like to get you connected with our support team. Just go here and create a ticket and you will be connected with one of our specialists who will assist you further.

The screen goes gray, and flickers black every now and then as if it is reconnecting.
The same account is active in Quest2 and the Meta Quest app.
Rebooting has made no difference to me.

The recommended steps from the meta quest support did not resolve my issue

Hey there! Thank you for bringing this up @VagantB, as mentioned, some devices just do not have the requirements to cast, but can still install the mobile application. Many users have gotten around this by using the website casting option at: oculus.com/casting using the browser on their tablets. Please give that a shot and let us know how that works!

If you still have issues, please reach out to us over private message from our Profile Page, and we would love to help however we can!

Hey again @VagantB, we would love to review any alternative casting/streaming options as needed. Just let us know!

I apologize for the somewhat delayed reply,
I tried activating casting via the browser with the same effect.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find out what was causing the problem and I haven't managed to stream to the tablet (Galaxy Tab A7 SM-T505) yet.

Hey there! Thanks for getting back to us! Since your having trouble casting through your tablets browser as well, we definitely want to do our best to get to the bottom of this issue! Could you go ahead and send us a PM so we can go over some options together? Please select our name to get to our profile page, or click here. From there, click "Send a Message" to privately message us! Please remember, you must be signed into the community first to send us a private message. We're looking forward to hearing from you!
