Im having prb with installing Elite Dangerous and EVE Valkyrie.  It wont get passed finish install the game.
the issues seems to be with visual-cpp-2010-vcredist_x64.exe.
1. Oculus seems to wanna install that driver by it self.
2 i have tried installing it manually several times.
3 Reintalled the oclus home atleast 10 times so far.
4 Formatted my C: to install a new windows 10 just incase that was the issue.
5 i have no antivirus or firewall installing during this time.
6 I have done all the steps Oculus support suggested me to do.
7 This prb stared to occur when Mass Effect Anromeda was released,
they have an vc++ issue that they have not fixed the bug yet.
8 I have installed the new update windows came out 2 days ago.
9 Oculus wants access to these websites.
oculus.com
facebook.com
fbcdn.net
akamaihd.net

10 akamaihd.net according to www.enigmasoftware.com ill copy their words instead for you to read.

So what do i do now. i can't use my oculus at all for the purpose i bought it for, to play elite dangerous and eve valkyrie!
I can't access akamaihd.net, I've attached a screenshot of the error I'm getting. I've also attached the OVRRedistributableInstaller.log file.
It seems there is a problem with installing "visual-cpp-2010-vcredist_x64.exe", so I installed this file manually but it didn't fix the problem.

I have tried disabling my anti-virus, firewall and UAC when installing.

Do i ask for a full refund?

Hey guys!

I found a solution to this prb.
Oculus pls take note off this and put it in you'r solutions and check if its valid, it worked for me.

First you need to create a new ADMIN Windows profile, then you need to install oculus on that profile and download the games if needed, once i reached this point i was able to finish installing the games.
after this dont forget to get the old profile setting from the old profile and your set to go.

There might be a flaw when you create a profile in windows. I belive this is the issue why sometimes
people will have this issues why it does not work.

Hope this helps you!

Nope im sry but this does not work. I've been in contact with your support for over a month now with over 20 mail from you and there is still no fix to this issue. IF this is a oculus issue or a microsoft issue, well i have so far not gotten any word on.
ONLY THING OCULUS SAYS MY PC IF AT FAULT. That there is something interfearing but that is not the case.
THE ISSUE lies with the essential 2010.
WHY cant you just fix it by not insisting Oculus home to finish the installtions remove it and i have high hopes that these prb will be a thing off the past

I've installed my compter 5 times now, and ever changed drives 2 and ive done a low lvl format aswell.
Why will you not give a respons to the question why you are insisting oculus to finish the installations?
IM still unable to play ELITE OR EVE Valkyire.
Only reason why i bought the damn thing.

Hi @Kedea, Are you running oculus home on a non admin windows account? I have the same problem as you.

I use Windows as non admin user, and I have the same problem OH not finishing installs, even when admin credentials are provided to oculus home when asked.

To workaround the problem, I have to log in with the admin account, run oculus home and then the pending installs work as expected. After that, you can login with your standard account again and run the software.

It's a big problem oculus doesn't take care about best practices when developing their software. For years now the default security and privacy settings recommended by MS is to run Windows as standard user, not admin, so a well developed software needs to take care of that recommendation.

With Oculus Home, and the debug tool, the problem is when the software needs elevated privileges, it doesn't work, even if you provided an admin account credentials. This is lazy programming to me 😞

Hope you solve the problem.

a.akamaihd.net is a suspicious domain that has been used to form malicious browser hijackers. This is to say a lot of browser hijacker infection contain this domain in their URLs like Searchinterneat-a.akamaihd.net and Cdncache-a.akamaihd.net. (Refer to:http://guides.uufix.com/how-to-remove-searchinterneat-a-akamaihd-net-completely/)
Maybe that's the reason why you can't access akamaihd.net directly.
