My specs: Windows 10, 256gb Quest 2, USB-A to USB-C cable to my PC, file size ranges from 8GB-20GB
I have over 70GB available in my Quest 2 but I'm unable to transfer large MP4 video files (all of which are >9GB) to it. I have developer mode enabled with USB debugging activated and I can't directly transfer the files over on my PC nor with Sidequest. The transfer reaches 100% but the file does not appear in my Oculus with both methods.
Several people have posted about this issue on Reddit very recently as well, some of them noted that a factory reset did not fix the issue so I have not and will not try that.

Sadly none of your suggestions have worked. I did encounter something strange though, when my headset is powered off and connected to my PC it shows up as a USB drive in my file explorer. It is grayed out in that menu and nothing can be done with it, but it is the only time it is showing up on my PC.

OK that's a wierd one and maybe starting to point towards something at the PC end. Sorry, I'm running out of ideas, at this point I'll ask the good people of the forum if anyone else has some suggestions or experienced the samw behaviour.
I would just say that the FTP solution I mentioned eaelier in the thread is a good alternative way of transferring files in the meantime.

Its okay I appreciate your help. I may try a factory reset on an older headset and see what happens.

Since the update that allows file transfers, I have disabled automatic updates from settings.
But I still see that when I power off the device, it makes updates.
Is there anything else I can do? I don't want any new updates.

I see this is a longstanding issue with like a dozen threads on multiple platforms in the past year, and still no solution or reliable workarounds. Something broke with an update. Dev's must already be aware, so I won't even bother describing it in detail. Just wanna know WHY ISN'T THIS FIXED YET?

This was fixed in v60.
I'm now on v62 with both my Quest 3 and Quest Pro, just tested copying 5 large files to each headset and it works fine.
Also, prior to the v60 fix, I posted a work-around that lets you copy files wirelessly using ftp which is still a good workable option but not necessary now. See my post in this thread dated 23rd November.
What cable are you using? what software version are you on?
Edit: I like the Deux Ex reference by the way!

This is working fine now for me as well in the Quest 3 and Quest Pro since the V60 update. Files transfer without issue.

Yeah some bugs seem to take longer to fix than they should but this one got there in the end!

I thought enabling MTP fixed my issue, which for some stupid reason is disabled by default and reverts to disabled after every reset. Was able to transfer a large 40gig file once. Now it's not working anymore even with MTP enabled. This is a familiar trend, where people reported every solution only works once. This must be some kind of conspiracy. Why don't they want us transferring large files? Theirs no way the dev's are this incompetent. It must be on purpose!
