I'll let you know up front this is not an answer to your question but some similar problems I myself wish to discuss that might have their roots in Windows 10. First off my system more than meets the Rift's specs: i7 6900K (overclocked to 4.3ghz), GTX 1080, Win 10 Pro, Asus Rampage 5 motherboard, M2 SSD, 32 gig ram etc. And for the most part everything runs well - I run Eve Valkyrie with all graphics set to ultra and resolution at 135% without a single hitch or stutter in sight (its a different story with Elite Dangerous but I'll get to that later).
I never had any of the problems with the sensor that were being so frequently reported in the first few months of the Rift's release. While a lot of people were complaining about constant disconnecting and reconnecting, or Oculus home 'jumping' about, everything seemed to be rock solid and stable on my system. That is, until Oculus began releasing fixes for the sensor problem. Now, while other people claim these fixes have helped them, I'm now getting frequent jittering and jumping around of Oculus home and the occasional 'please reconnect your sensor' message, though head tracking is still very smooth. It seems the updates that fixed problems for other peoples systems are now causing problems for mine. However, since it was fine to begin with I can't really place the blame on Windows 10 and will just wait until Oculus get their software sorted.
Now to Elite Dangerous. This has 'jittered' and 'stuttered' right from the beginning. I've tried different graphics settings from VR Low to VR High to Ultra and it makes no difference whatsoever (Its not a frame rate issue but seems to be some kind of constant interruption, however I don't have this interruption in other games - or at least I don't notice it). Elite is playable but this stuttering and jittering really hurts the immersion. A search online has suggested multiple solutions from rolling back drivers to a full clean install to an 'i7 core parking' fix to a CPU overclock voltage setting problem! Many possible solutions (I haven't tried them all yet, the i7 core parking thing seems tempting but I'm worried about its impact on other software.) but no fix as yet. I was hoping 2.2 might have done something to address the stutter in Elite (it affects many other players too) but if anything it has got worse. I currently have a very slow internet connection (download 1.7mbit) but I'd be surprised if that was the cause of the stutter. I've also turned off as many background programs as I can and used Ultimate Windows Tweaker 4.2 to disable all privacy settings but this has made no change either.
So, is Windows 10 the cause of my stuttering in Elite or is it a hardware problem? Like you, I'm still searching for the answer. I'm hoping its a Win 10 issue that gets fixed soon as I'd hate to think I paid for an expensive system that hasn't been configured properly. Maybe the next person to add to this thread will have the answer. Anyway, I'm off to find some arsenic for Lei Cheung's grade 5 shield upgrade...hmm...maybe I'll try removing the TV output cable from my 1080 so I have only the Rift plugged into the card and see if that makes a difference to the stutter....
(edit about 9 hours later)...Nah, it doesn't (someone on the net said it worked for them)!
