Upgrading to this spec, will Rift be okay?

Having tried out my Rift on my current system it is clear I need a new motherboard. My Asus P9X79 Deluxe motherboard has all kinds of USB problems when using the Rift which is why I bought an Inateck PCI-E USB expansion card but I've still had problems of the Rift randomly disconnecting (not enough USB power I guess).

I already knew I'd need a new graphics card which is why I'm ditching my two 780's for a single 1080Ti FTW3 from EVGA. That arrives next month. Also, the Rift's compatibility test didn't like my old Intel Core i7 3970X CPU very much.

So a new GPU will help but I'll still have trouble with my USB 3.0 ports and the CPU so I've decided to upgrade my rig to this:

Asus X99 Deluxe II Extreme motherboard
Intel Core i7 6850K CPU
Corsair Vengeance 16Gb 2400 RAM
Corsair H100i v2 closed loop CPU cooler

The X99 Deluxe II Extreme has only one PCI-E x1 slot and it's positioned right under where the 1080Ti needs to go so the GPU will block access to this PCI-E slot so I won't be able to use the Inateck USB expansion card in it (waste of money this was now). Although I know it can go in any of the other x16 slots but I shouldn't need it with the X99's onboard USB ports...right?

With that in mind and considering there are only four USB 3.0 ports on the X99 Deluxe II will this motherboard run Rift okay? I have no other USB 3.0 devices so the fact that all four on the back will be used up by the headset and three sensors is fine - although there is a USB 3.0 header on the motherboard for a port on my case to connect to.

Basically I'm asking if my Rift will work perfectly with this motherboard and CPU. I've seen things written about Asus motherboards where they just aren't very good with the Oculus Rift. My worry is that I'll buy all this and find the Rift still has problems.

I have the Asus X99 Deluxe (original version) and it seems to work fine. That CPU will be fine. As long as you get the Inateck card you should be good to go even if there are some USB issues with the mobo. I'd just recommend making sure all your USB drivers are up to date *before* connecting Rift. Thanks.

Thanks. I guess I'll try the onboard USB ports first and if I get into trouble then the Inateck will have to take an x16 PCI-E slot below the 1080.

I went down the same road as you. I have the Asrock Z170 Pro4S (6 usb3 ports) and it works well.
However, when I installed a 3rd sensor, it wouldn't work in a usb 3 port. Fortunately it came with a usb2 active extension and worked fine with that.

Hey homie, I have this mobo and the rift, worked fine until I added the 3rd sensor on usb 2.0 (as recommended by oculus) and the system just couldn't handle all 4 usb plug ins.  It does on the Inatech card.  Also, I'm on 1080gtx's SLI'd and have the inateck card in the slot just above the 2nd card, i believe it's slot 16_3, with the external sata power connected to it.  All 4 rift devices connected to the inateck.
