I purchased a USED Oculus 2 headset and controllers from Ebay .They arrived yesterday 12/11/24. A quick list of what has been attempted over a very long evening and morning !!
Did a Meta quest account with email
Download the Air Link app. on my Windows 11 PC. 35 GB free space. WiFi & Bluetooth turned on . Doesn't completely download. I have no Smartphone. only 'puter
Charged headset 'til greenlight came on.
New batteries in controllers.
So.... No pairing of the controllers
The pairing screen is the only screen to show . Numbers 79332 shown at top of screen.
Into the menu screen by holding -Volume & Start Button. Tried factory reset a few zillion times. Tried reboot a couple times.
The Display continues to show that the headset is LOCKED. Reset tried many times.
Even if the Air Link App. would successfully load; with no controller function would the app."factory reset" work?
MY major question is... Am I out of luck on buying USED and LOCKED Meta Quest 2 ?
@fattygirl forget the link app for the moment, that's primarily for PCVR. I know you've factory reset the headset, and after that it 'should' go into setup mode looking for a phone or tablet and the hand controllers. Do you know someone with a phone/tablet you could borrow for an hour to get the app talking to the headset.
There are a couple of things to try. Update to the latest firmware using the meta update tool or sideload an update to the headset.
Fattygirl was my little buddy ,a feral cat that came around years ago.She eventually became a part of my household. Two of us living here for years.... just me now. She's out back up on boot hill.
Thank you for the suggestions ! As the headset is locked it does not respond to anything that I can muster up ! Many different downloads to no avail.
Being a used unit ... would not the ORIGINAL download be needed to recognize and UNLOCK the headset ??
I'm grasping at straws at this point. About ready to send back to Ebay shipper for a refund as damaged goods received.

Is the headset "RESET" & ready to go into a possible setup mode even tho' ;after doing the "factory reset" with the volume/power button; probably 20 times; the only little headset menu still states LOCKED ???
I am going to a sons house tonight to start from scratch with his smart phone. I will be sure he see your suggestions. Thank you for now !
The Iphone downloads did it as opposed to my Airlink app.! All up and working with "Real VR Fishing downloaded. Thank you for your help !
