A friend of mine works in England and wants to buy a Meta Quest 3 in England and send it to her 12 year-old son in China for Chinese New Year. This way they can meet each other in virtual worlds using my MQ3 in England and a MQ3 in China to play games together, as a way to "see" each other in addition to daily video chats. She can buy the Meta Quest 3 in England, and I can set it up and install games in England, and then a friend traveling back to her hometown can delivery it personally.
But will the Meta Quest 3 work in China?
Can I create an account directly on the headset, and then buy and pre-load games in England? And then give them the login details when they get the headset?
Will they be able to access the Meta network to buy additional games in China? We can pay for the games using my credit card in England.
Will they be able to meet each other in the Metaverse so that she and her son can play games together, connecting between China and England? Would a VPN be a feasible method for connecting the MQ3 in China with England?
I see there is a Meta Quest Lite to be released in China through Tencent, but the MQ3 is the more expensive and better version. And I also don't know if the MQL will connect internationally with the MQ3.
Thank you so much for any help. Life is really hard for families separated while working abroad, and I think this would bring a lot of joy to her son, and help them to connect with each other.

I am living in China and brought my Quest 3 over from UK (bought at Xmas). Wondering if you have managed to get it working in China and can help me set mine up? currently struggling.
I decided not to buy it. There is a little more recommendations if you search the question on Reddit. They recommended to buy it and preload it with games. And then some people had success with a VPN, but the connection can be slow if you want to play online with people in other countries.
