This feature was mentioned briefly in the V68 release notes, alongside others like Meta AI, and while all other features in the list seem to have rolled out, Contrast Adaptive Brightness Control is conspicuously absent. No Quest 3 owners I have spoken to, running either V68 or PTC69, have seen the option themselves either.
Is it getting some more time to test it internally? Is the rollout for this feature just especially, unusually slow for some reason? Figures it's the one feature on the list that interested me at all.

Has that feature only been added to V69 and not V68 firmware..?
If so, I'll need to wait until Meta push it to my headset.
Thanks

I'm on the official V69

Thanks, it seems likely then that they did not backport this to V68. So I'll need to wait until V69 is pushed.............

Funny you should say that... Alyx was the game I tested on Virtual Desktop. Are you using airlink? Because it does not work at all on VD. Alyx also has a lot of in-game ambient light that changes as you move. This shouldn't be mistaken for the backlight, in which the difference can be made out very clearly if you look for it.

I was still in one of the earlier parts, just after getting the flashlight, so what I did was go into a very dark area, and point my flashlight at what I was looking at (to make the scene brighter again), then away (so it went dark again), and back. Each time I pointed the flashlight forward, the whole screen lit up to full, and each time I turned it away, it went back to being dark. It won't - and can't - reach full black, so don't expect that, but it was definitely working.
Honestly being so subtle that I had to force it with a very extreme edge case is probably for the best, there are a lot of LCD TVs and phones with more or less the same feature and they make it extremely, distractingly obvious. As far as I can tell, Meta's works on a curve that starts gentle, and then drops fast the darker it gets, probably so it doesn't flicker noticeably all the time at medium light levels, but still makes a difference at very low ones.

Okay so I begrudgingly redownloaded Meta's software on my PC and found out that it does work for Airlink as Hirothefox described. So are native apps the only thing it doesn't work for yet?

How do people get these updates, so fast. Lol.
I will need to repeat it three times in a mirror, perhaps I'll get to play with V69 then, lol.

Hey @Origami4gamin_TTV,
How's it going? It looks like they got the CABC out and working before they got back to me... 🙄
Sorry that I couldn't provide an update regarding the feature for you guys. 🍒

Whilst this might well be not possible it would be nice if a user could manually invoke an update to a released version, in this case V69, beyond that of when it happens to be pushed to the users headset.
Whilst this CABC feature has been asked for, since V68, it is reliant, it seems, to on having V69 to try it out.
