I am looking for some advice on setting up a realistic driving experience.
A couple of years ago I had a slight stroke that affected my peripheral vision and was advised to stop driving which was a huge blow as I loved driving.
I have seen video of driving games where you wear a VR head set and use a driving wheel with peddles as controllers but I am not sure how I would set them all up.
I have a Mete Quest 2 head set and I can subscribe to an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate which would give me access to games like Forza but I am not sure how I can connect something like a Logitech G923 Racing Wheel and Pedals + Logitech G Driving Force Shifter to the headset. If I go down the path of getting an Xbox and a Logitech G923 how do I get it played through the Meta Quest headset.
For information I have a Full Fibre Gigabit 900Mbps internet connection.
Meta has the XBox Cloud Gaming service that lets you play games from xbox game pass ultimate on a Quest. However that won't do what you want, as the games are just 2D on a floating screen, not true VR (it just simulates playing on a big tv).
So what you'll need is a good gaming PC. Your Quest can then connect to it via either Link (usb cable), Airlink (wifi), Virtual Desktop (wifi, costs money) or SteamLink (wifi, only plays Steam games).
You also connect the steering wheel to the PC (not to the Quest).
Now you can play any driving game that has built in VR support. Forza has no VR support, so no luck there. Off the top of my head, Asetto Corsa is popular for VR racing. For rally driving there's Dirt.
I'm not a racing fan, so my favorite is Euro Truck Sim 2 (American Truck Sim by the same creators would work too). Steering wheel and VR support. I can spend hours in the game driving a truck around europe, following the road rules, etc. Lots of addons for it too, including drivable cars instead of just trucks.
