Hi there,

Looking for advice/help since one of our headsets Meta Quest 2 (exhibtion with VR booth) keeps displaying an error message: your headset ventilation does not work properly. Your headset may overheay and so may not work properly. Please do restart your headset. In case the issue is still on, please reach customer service: meta.com/help/support.

(le ventilateur de votre appareil ne fonctionne pas correctement. votre casque peur chauffer et donc fonctionner de manière inhabituelle. veuillez essayer de le redémarrer. si le problème perssiste, contactez le serive clientèle ; meta.com/help/support/

we've tried everything, let it cool down, switch for another charge cable, even reboot and then factory reset the headset, we've visited all meta websites and cannot find any solution.

what should we do?

one VR headset out = less incones = more bad reviews...

thanks for your time and support

@CrimsonJellyfish9012  it maybe that the headset thermal paste has degraded. Below is a guide to get to the fan [which may have dust in it] Remove the fan and cooler assembly and replace the thermal paste between the CPU/GPU and the cooler with a decent thermal paste.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

We just ordered the right driver to open it. I'll keep you posted 🙂

Don't know what the thermal design is inside, but it might also just be dust clogging the radiator. Just opening it up and cleaning things in there might be all that's needed if you don't feel confident to re-apply thermal paste.

(Quick general note, every motor is also a generator, so NEVER blow air through a fan that's plugged in or you might send current back through and damage something ;))
