Hi, my son is getting a message on his meta Quest 3 saying 'VR metacam quest keeps stopping' message with the option to close app or app info. No matter which he choses the screen goes grey and it shuts down. On a few occasions the message: com.oculus,identitymanagement.service.IMSApplic...keepsstopping comes up but again the screen goes grey and blank.
Can anyone please help or give suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks in advance

Hi there!
We hate to hear that you are having to deal with an error message that is keeping you from enjoying your games.
We would like to try to performing a factory reset on your headset to see if this helps to get rid of the error. Before you do the reset, We do want to make sure that you have the cloud backup feature is turned on in your headset. This feature will allows you to save the data for some of your games before you perform the reset. To learn more about how you can set up the cloud backup see this link: About cloud backup
Please let us know if you run into any problems!

My son is having this same problem? Is a factory reset the only option? I am unsure how to make sure he has cloud backup on because the headset doesn't stay on long enough to get to the menu. Additionally, if we factory reset, does he lose games he has purchased or cosmetics in games such as gorilla tag?
Thank you!

Hey there,
To answer your question, your son's apps and games will be removed from the device after a factory reset, however he will be able to redownload them again once logged back in.
Also, Cloud Backup can only be enabled on the headset itself, under Settings > System > Backup, but worry not: Cloud Backup is enabled by default on Quest headsets!
Before resorting to a factory reset, we would suggest a hard reboot by holding the Power button for around 30 seconds, or until you hear a boot chime. If you're still running into the same issue, then give the factory reset a go.
If you need any further assistance, please reach out again!

I am currently having the same issue. I factory reset my quest 3 today, it seemed to solve the problem, but then it only lasted for about an hour and it started giving me the same error message.
I was playing Real VR Fishing and all of my software was completely up to date.
Do you have any suggestions on how this can be fixed? I don’t really want to go through the whole process of reset and everything again, just to have it stop working once again.
thank you for your time.

Before the factory reset, I also tried accessing the app on SideQuest, force quitting, then clearing app data, and that did not fix the problem either.

More information:
- Camera app works to take photos and screen recordings, but you need to go into that page from the main screen. The shortcuts seem to be the main things that are bugging things out.
- Photo Snapshot shortcut works, but there is no sound or preview pop-up, nothing to verify the pic was taken, but it does show up in the gallery.
- Screen Recording/Video shortcut does not work, this tends to be the main cause for the application to quit and the warning message to pop up.

It doesn't work for me either. just as the person above, i did a factory reset and this problem came back.
I hope this gets fixed cos i wanted to record cheating behaviour in a game just to have some evidence and couldn't do it... 😕
