Very low frame rates with Quest 3 link cable and good PC specs.

I have been struggling to figure out why I am getting such bad performance with my quest 3. I have the official link cable and good PC specs. I have tested my link cable and it runs at 2.5 Gbps. I also have a rift s that runs perfectly fine. I think I have figured out what is causing the bad performance but I don't know how to fix it. Here is my Oculus Debug Tool:debugTool.PNGAs you can see at the bottom, I turned on the visible HUD and have it set on Oculus Link. There is a graph that shows the Encoder frame rate and for some reason it is not going any higher than 20hz. I think that is the problem but I don't know how to fix it. Also, when I set the mode to performance summary, my App frame rate is constantly 80 (I have my headset set to 80hz). I have also disabled Asynchronous Spacewarp and it didn't do anything. If anybody has any ideas, please let me know.

Hey there, @Phrogy. I see you've been getting some frame dips when doing PCVR on your Meta Quest 3 and noticed these dips don't happen when using the Oculus Rift S. We want our players to be able to enjoy VR to the fullest, regardless of which device they choose to use. I do have some questions for you on this.

  • does this happen with a specific game? or is it all games?
  • Do you have any other USB connections you can try?

Looking forward to hearing back from you on this.

It is all games. Even before I load a game the performance is not good. I have an adapter that allows my link cable to be plugged into a USB A port but I have the same results.

Thank you for confirming with us. We would love to continue to look into this further, as we understand how this can really disrupt an amazing VR experience. Ensure that you meet the requirements to use the Meta Quest Link. Click here to look through the requirements after that try the following to see if it does the trick for you!

  • Restart your headset.
  • Try using different USB ports.
  • Finally, ensure that everything is up-to-date.
  • Check for any graphic card drivers that need to be updated. Please follow the steps below.
  • NVIDIA graphics card, we have 2 options for the customer to pick:
      - Download the latest drivers from the GeForce website directly at Nvidia Drivers
      - If you have the GeForce Experience software installed on your PC, download the latest driver updates for your graphics card from the Drivers tab in the GeForce Experience app.
  • AMD graphics card, we have 2 options for the customer to pick:
      - Download the latest drivers from the AMD website directly at AMD Drivers.
      - Install updates through AMD Radeon Settings:
           a. Right-click on your desktop and select AMD Radeon Settings. (If you can't see AMD Radeon Settings, select AMD Catalyst Control Center).
           b. Select Information on the menu.
           c. Select Software Update.
           d. Select Check for updates now.
           e. Download and install the latest graphics card drivers (64-bit drivers are required)
Note: The Link/Rift S/Rift cable should be disconnected from the computer prior to updating or reinstalling the graphics driver. After an update/installation, the PC should be restarted to make sure the update/installation was successful prior to reconnecting the Link/Rift S/Rift cable.

See if this does the trick for you. If the issue persist, please don't hesitate to reach out to us again so we can continue to look into other options we have available for you. We can't wait to hear back from you soon!!

I have the latest drivers. I have an rx 6800, ryzen 7 7800x3d, 32gb ddr5 ram at 6000 MHz, 850w power supply. My specs are capable for link.

We appreciate you sharing your specs with us. To continue checking a few more troubleshooting steps on the list, have you tried to use Air Link? You can find out how to do that here. Lastly, have you tried to do a factory reset? If you try that option, just make sure you have cloud backup on, and you can find that information here. We are committed to continuing to explore next steps, and we eagerly await your reply!

I have tried air link and it does not work well. I just factory reset my headset and now I can't even get it to recognize that it's plugged in. I am stuck on this screen: forgnite.PNG

Nevermind, I got it to connect but the performance was the same.
