Weird airlink visual glitches and stuttering

3hula
Honored Guest

I had this issue a few days ago but fixed it after clearing my boundary history, but this problem is happening again to me. For about 2 days I had perfect airlink until yesterday when it went back to be unusable.

When I load into airlink everything is wobbling horribly and controllers seem to either move around on their own or move very, very, VERY slow and drift around way too much. The sides of the screen in front of me in VR space seems to be jagged and when I look behind I can see this weird repeating fractal pattern of what I saw in front of me, which ends up looking like a white zig zag pattern against a black background. After a while I think I lose connection because sometimes it goes to black if I look behind for too long.

Im using my phone as a hotspot but it was working with it for two days so I don't think its an issue with my hotspot. I made sure my computer recognizes the hotspot as a home network, i left it as a public one too, i tried clearing the boundary history, i tried making a different sized boundary, i tried setting the oculus server to realtime priority, and i even tried making a hotspot on my computer and connecting my quest 3 to that hotspot instead.

Hey there, @3hula! We see you have run into some Airlink troubles, such as glitches and stuttering. This is not the experience we'd want for you, so we will do our best to get to the root of this and get you back to a smooth VR experience! We would like to start off by looking into your network to see if this is the cause of this issue. Please try the steps listed below.

  1. Restart the device.
  2. Try another application to check if the connection issue is related to the Oculus app only.
  3. Try another connection type (ethernet or Wi-Fi).
  4. Try checking the settings of the antivirus software for options to whitelist or add Oculus as a trusted program.
     a. Adding the Oculus application to the antivirus software’s whitelist or trusted list should help resolve slowdowns or issues accessing content without compromising the user’s system integrity. Click here to learn more.
  5. Try a different network, one with no restrictions.

If this does not do the trick for you, please don't hesitate to let us know so that we can continue to look into this for you. We can't wait to hear back from you soon!

Hi, I haven't tried the solutions yet but it started working again yesterday until I quit Airlink and came back to it after a few minutes and the problem came up again. I tried resetting both my PC and Quest headset but nothing worked. I'll try out the other solutions later but it seems that the issue is a bit random sometimes.

Thank you for taking the time to give us an update, @3hula! Please let us know if you are still running into Airlink issues after trying the troubleshooting steps we provided in our previous comment. That way, we can continue to look into this for you! We can't wait to hear back from you soon!

Hi my airlink seems to be working normally as I didn't have any issues yesterday, it could just be weird connection problems.

I have a small question that's off topic, why do I have to pay for the free trial of meta quest+? Is it possible to have the free trial without paying for the month after it?

Hey, @3hula! that's a great question! Firstly, thank you for letting us know you got Airlink to work again. The way Meta Quest+ works is that you may be asked for a payment method, and once the free trial is over, you will get charged for the month after the free trial is up. If a charge does go through for the free trial, then contact us, and we will be happy to look into that for you. We hope this answers the questions you were having. You can click here to learn more about Meta Quest+.
