What is ADB and how do I get it to work?

2024Bob2024
Explorer

I am trying to load games onto the quest 3 from the computer.

I have the computer connected to the quest 3, I get the sounds when I plug it in but I can't see it in my explorer.

I think I have enabled developer mode.

I see the program loading but when it finishes I get

No device found.

---------------------------
No device found. Please ensure the following:

-Developer mode is enabled.
-ADB drivers are installed.
-ADB connection is enabled on your device (this can reset).
-Your device is plugged in.

Then press "Retry"

I found ADB.exe in the files and tried to load it but the computer still fails to see the headset and refuses to load anything.

Is there a fix for this?

looking on the internet I get lots of advice about how to fix it but I seem to come up against an instruction that either fails to make sense or is not on my headset.

Hey, @2024Bob2024!

Have you toggled on the MTP Notification in the headset's developer settings? You may need to do that and allow file access.

ADB is the Android Debug Bridge and is used for installing APKs to the headset and is usually used for development purposes. Are you just looking to install extra games to the headset?

If I don't take my foot off the gas, I might miss it all.

Hi OMOTO,

Yes the MTP notification is ticked in settings/system/developer.

I'm looking to load games but the computer fails to report that it sees my headset when it's plugged in.

I know the lead I'm using is a data lead as opposed to just a power lead as it shows the files on my phone on the computer when it's plugged in.

So I'm looking for a reason why my set is not 'seen' by my computer.
