Headset seems to work fine stand-alone. I use the headset with IRacing, and often (not always) get a translucent horizontal stripe across the screen after about 15 minutes or so. It doesn't feel like the headset is overheating. This doesn't show up on the screen mirror on PC, or if I "mirror" with the debug tool. Is this likely a failing display or is there somewhere else I should look?

This seems to have fixed the problem for me.

Have been trying to resolve this issue for literally years, this has solved the problem - thanks very much.

3080 mobile here, no noticeable difference in latency for me and same fps.
This does fix the problem definitelly.

This worked! I've been struggling with the banding for a year. No change in performance that I can see. Thank you!

If the problem is with the 5th slice, would it also work to set numSlices to 4 and maybe keep much of the latency reduction?

For those who don't want to mess with the Windows Registry (like me), there is a workaround using the official Oculus software to prevent this artifact from occurring when using Oculus Link. It consists of disabling Sliced Encoding through the Oculus Debug Tool.
It's as easy as:
1. Go to the following location: [Your Oculus Installation Path]\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics.
2. Run "OculusDebugTool.exe".
3. Under "Oculus Link", turn "Sliced Encoding" off.
I haven't noticed any difference in performance or latency, everything works fine.

Since the latest driver update I've had some bugs appear with setting numslices to 1, whereby that causes me to get visual artifacts after a few minutes of gameplay. If we set numslices back to 5, these artifacts only occur in one of the slices. By setting numslices to 6, I see no artifacts or banding. So if that happens to you, try:
reg add "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Oculus\RemoteHeadset" /v "numSlices" /t REG_DWORD /d "6" /f

I’ve also been totally screwed by the latest update - semi-transparent white band and artefacts in lower screen. After months of dealing with other issues, I had finally got this bl@@dy headset working as advertised. And now this. I don’t know how to edit my PCs registry and don’t want to take the risk of trying. None of the suggestions short of this (factory reset/turning off sliced encoding) work.

I've been doing some research on this problem. Could you please confirm if you are using an AMD Radeon GPU?

Hi Clio
I’m using a Nvidia RTX 4090. And the issue seems to be resolved. Frankly I don’t know how. The last thing I tried was another go at turning off sliced encoding which seemed to make no difference so I turned it back on. The next time I turned the PC on the strip was gone. Good luck figuring it out!
