White horizontal stripe across screen while using link

Headset seems to work fine stand-alone.  I use the headset with IRacing, and often (not always) get a translucent horizontal stripe across the screen after about 15 minutes or so.  It doesn't feel like the headset is overheating.  This doesn't show up on the screen mirror on PC, or if I "mirror" with the debug tool.  Is this likely a failing display or is there somewhere else I should look?

I can confirm the workaround does work i have been playing no issues at all for the last 4 hours :D!! however microphone does not function at all and there is a clicking in audio as previously stated. i have a support case with oculus atm, im going to send them logs from this workaround and then they can compare them to logs for current version and fingers crossed they can find something between them to pinpoint this issue!!

Awesome!!! It's good news that this also works for somebody else! As I said there are problems with this workaround, it's not perfect, but at least we can play with link!!! 😄
The workaround that I posted is just an old version of oculus app, and then the two files that you created in the folder are there just to block it from updating, but you should be able to update your apps and games normally.
I also did not have a problem since, so I think we can say that there is obviously a problem in oculus app with newer versions... So it's nice to hear  you started a support case. I hope that they will listen and use the information you have to give them to solve the problem as soon as possible.

for everyones knowledge... this may or may not be related to the striping issue but i also noted that my oculus link is stuck at 72HZ no matter what option i select in Oculus app. can someone here with the issue open the debug tool performance overlay and confirm theres is also showing as 72 hz regardless of selection? 120HZ mode worked fine with workaround which i why i suspect this may be part of the cause.

So after 24+ hours of solid tweaking and testing and all round pulling my hair out... i have found a way to downgrade the oculus software to V24 like in serhyo's post but also fix the audio and microphone issues whilst allowing 120HZ mode if required (though I recomend sticking to 90HZ as its far more stable). You do loose the abilty to run via Airlink (currently bugged on build v33 and wont run more than 72HZ anyways) but frankly Virtual desktop is tons better anyway and has alot more to offer including abilty to watch 3D films, etc!!!

Please follow steps as per below.

1)  Turn on Public Test Channel in beta tab in oculus PC app settings, once the update have finished reboot your PC.

2)  Once reboot is complete turn off the PTC and let oculus update back to V33 but this time DO NOT REBOOT YOUR PC,

3) Download https://drive.google.com/file/d/1H_Sgam3hVAtDFPajTu7ZcpUqSrEh681D/view?usp=sharing

4) Stop OVRService - (ctrl+alt+delete -> Task manager -> find OVRService -> right click Stop

5) Go to C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support, and rename folder Support to Support-backup.

6) Export the downloaded Support folder from step 3 to C:\Program Files\Oculus\

7) Create a text file using notepad named ''tmp'' and move it into C:\Program Files\Oculus\, then enable file extensions under the view tab in windows explorer and delete .txt extension from the file. (staging file is not needed, aslong as you have the "tmp" files in this directory it will stop automatic updates.)

7) Start OVRService again.

8)Open the oculus app, you should get a red banner appear at the top of the window telling you to "update the drivers" for oculus to run your hardware properly. Go ahead and click the button and let oculus app run its driver update. Once this is done go ahead and reboot your PC again. *It's vital you restart your PC before the next steps or this may not work!!!*

9)  Open device manager and navigate to sound, video and game controllers, click the arrow to open the list of devices.

10) Right click on "Oculus Virtual Audio Device" and then click update driver. Click search automatically for driver and let the update process complete. Once this is finished, windows should prompt you to reboot to finish installing the new driver. Let it reboot once again.

11) Enjoy playing VR games again with fully functioning audio and a working mic!!! 🙂

This should work for all affected users providing you follow the steps, I just finished playing 3 hours in Phasmophobia with no visual, audio or microphone issues. I even managed to avoid death during a hunt! Yay me!!!

I really hope this helps and please post to this forum your results and let us know if this worked for you.

I have given Oculus support all of the following information above in hopes they can use it to help figure out the bigger issue. But for now this should get most of us running again untill Oculus finally pull thier finger out and get us a permenant solution!

I forgot to add a note to my previous post. Oculus home will initially be broken/will not load in after this workaround is applied. If you care about home/want to use it again then navigate into the support folder and delete the "Oclulus-worlds" folder and "oclulus-words.zip" file. Then you just need to copy your "Oclulus-worlds" folder from your support-backup folder and paste it back into the support folder. You will need to make sure oclulus service is stopped before you start deleting and moving folders, but make sure you do this after following all the steps in the previous post first! Once you are finished you can restart the service and when you use link again, Oculus home will load up as normal :).

I tried that a long time ago and it didn't work. It's just a downgrade of the Link software, not the firmware. Great if it solved your issue but it's unfortunately not a universal solution.

Oh, look - almost a month ago OculusSupport tried posing as actual support. I guess the "hard work" hasn't paid off yet, huh?

Hi Alex, it’s become very clear to me the issue IS the oculus app software and not the firmware. You may have tried this a long time ago (likely Serhyo’s Workaround) but you can’t knock my workaround until you try it! So I implore you to give it a go 🙂 just make sure to follow the instructions to the letter! I have 3 other users confirmed my workaround has worked for them and they are able to play be again without issues. What have ya got to loose after all? If you wait for

oclulus support you could be waiting till next year! XD

To add to my previous note my quest 2 is running latest V33 firmware and this fix still works great! 🙂

Using your guides I've been able to revert back to v24 and haven't seen the white bar in 4 hours of playing Dirt Rally 2.0! Thanks serhyo and fyte, much appreciated!

Hopefully this also gives Oculus a place to look at if anyone is trying to fix this.
