Why does my controller do this

Veraltt
Explorer

I've had my quest 3 for about 3 weeks now and this just started happening today I believe. I changed all my keybinds in games to not have to click the left thumbstick to sprint and I've tried taking the batteries out and putting them back in 30 seconds later. Any tips or reasons why would be very helpful. Thanks

Hey there, @Veraltt, and thanks for bringing this to the attention of the community! Controller hiccups can be some of the most annoying and frustrating issues to deal with, we know, so please be assured we're happy to dig into this with you and find a solid resolution! In the video, that dip you are seeing could definitely be caused by a potential drift issue, but we want to make certain it's not caused by any other factors (and hopefully provide you with a quick and easy solution). Let's make certain we've covered the following steps:

If the issue persists beyond this, we can try eliminating some other possible causes by doing a Factory Reset on the device:

Factory Reset Your Meta Quest Device

If the issue is still present after the reset, we'll definitely need to get our support specialists involved, but very often one of the above steps corrects some of the oddest controller issues. Let us know the results when you can!

Looks like joystick drift to me. Quite early in the headsets lifecycle but perhaps you play very active games. Very common on Quest 2 and therefore inevitable on Quest 3. Log a support call to have it replaced.

If it helps at all, the games that I've mainly played since I got my Quest 3 are Breachers, Into the Radius, and Ghosts of Tabor. I rarely had any stick drift issues on my Quest 2 up until the very end when I switched, even then it was very minor. I will see if I can get it replaced. Thanks.

Hey, it seems the problem has been fixed mostly. I used the compressed air technique aswell as recalibrating it a whole bunch. It almost seems as if its an on and off type issue but I've yet to figure that out. Thanks for all the help 🙂
