Will my specs work well with the Rift? [Specs included]

-Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (6.1, Build 7601)
-Intel Core i5 CPU 760 @ 2.80GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.8GHz
-4096GB RAM
-DirectX 11

-AMD Radeon HD 5800 Series
-AMD Radeon Graphics Processor (0x689E)
-Internal DAC (400MHz)
-Approx Total Memory: 2808MB
-1600x900 (32-bit) (60Hz)

I consider my rig to be pretty decent, even though it's older now. I can still max out the majority of the games I have (or play them on high instead of max in certain games, medium on BF3 for some reason). Yes it has hdmi, but I'm wondering if it is good enough to get a full 60fps in most games I want to play. I know the resolution will be only 720p and I know the display will be different, but will I be able to run games like Portal, TF2, Slender: The Arrival, Dream, etc) on max graphics using the Rift, and if not, the highest I can go without having performance issues.

Are these specs (graphics card mainly) good enough to get a good smooth experience using the Rift? Thanks.

The GPU is a performance bottleneck and needs an upgrade, but other than that, it's a fair enough setup.

Really? My friends laptop works just fine with the Oculus and my GPU is better than his, as are my other specs.

I have Radeon HD 7970M and I still have trouble running some games maxed out, even with AA down to 4x (bare minimum for the Rift), so I also have to set other settings down a bit. It's seriously important to play games in the Rift on max settings. Visuals are very big part of immersion, especially geometry, textures, shadows and render distance - never have them any lower than "ultra". You can, however, safely adjust LOD to lower distances if this setting is available.

My friend recommended the Nvidia GTX 760 as opposed to the $1000 Titan. He said it should be able to flawlessly handle most games the Rift on max settings. And he also recommended upping myself to 8GB of RAM. But I'm still using an Intel i5 CPU and my Asus mobo might be a bit out of date. Will I need to replace my CPU with the newest one? What's sufficient?

Upping RAM is a little deal, RAM is dirt cheap nowdays. 4 GB plank would be, like, $30? Maybe less.

I recommend Radeon R 290 which is a bunch more expensive than 760, but also substationally more powerful. It practically goes on par with Titan, displaying slightly smaller performance over 70% the time and even bigger than Titan performance some other times.
