Windows 10 - USB 3 Port problems

Hello, everyone,

I have the following problem since I upgraded my operating system from Windows 7 to Windows 10. Important to know: before, everything worked smoothly on version 7.

My system first:
Motherboard - ASRock Z77 Extreme-4m
CPU - i5 2500k to 4,6 Ghz
GPU - GTX 1060 (3GB)
RAM - 12 GB

Oculus Home on SSD and games on HDD
HMD connected to USB3
1. sensor connected to USB3
2. sensor connected to USB2

Whenever I connected my sensors or my HMD to my USB 3 ports, there were the following problems that, in the end, even caused a total loss of image transfer.
1) Crackling on the audio track - Loss of complete sound during CPU intensive games (The Climb)
2) sporadic tracking error message on both the sensor and the HMD
3) In the device display, both the sensor and HMD were shown sporadically connected to USB 2.0 although they were/are connected to USB 3.
4) jerky transmission of movement
5) error-free transmission of sound and image for games without touch controller support (Henry, Lost, Farlands etc.)

I've tried and adjusted the following:
1) Energy saving functions disabled in both the Energy Savings Plan and Device Manager
2) disabled USB power saving options via SteamVR
3) searched for other drivers (not found)
4) all USB power saving functions in UEFI disabled

And only one thing has so far brought a solution: both sensors and the HMD connected to USB 2.0 ports, with an unsatisfactory motion transmission
My guess, since it was running smoothly on Windows 7 before, is that it must be a driver or configuration problem of the USB 3 ports. Did anyone else have the same problems and found a working solution?

i have just installed a new SSD yesterday , a fresh install of Windows 10 . im having USB problem with the Headset , the Windows will pop up a msg saying unable to find driver for this device , when i open device manager i find that the USB 3.0 is having a yellow exclamation mark next to . this is the USB that the headset is connected to . the sensor is fine though. when i run oculus home it try to starts for a few seconds then it goes black and the sound is playing .

before i get the SSD it was running smooth on Win 10 without a hiccup for over a year with no issue . now i dont know if its a USB problem or Driver issue .

I've been able to solve my problem now.

it was, as suspected, a driver problem. Funnily enough, neither microsoft nor the motherboard manufacturer (ASRock) can automatically provide current drivers for my system.

A tip from my IT colleagues was to use the application: Driver Booster. This application (which is available in an Adaware contaminated free version) updated a total of 19 drivers on my system, including two USB host controllers and two Intel chipset drivers. Since then my USB ports are working fine. All above mentioned points (also the audio crackling problems) are fixed.

The software is provided by IOBit - but please be careful with the installation. After updating, the software can be easily uninstalled without leaving any data corpses.
