Wrong menu and unable to see universal menu

Whenever I use my quest3 to play a game i see 

this menu as my friend was trying to show me how to enable the hand tracking in game but I couldnt get it to work either as the menu's he was describing the process and they couldnt enable either.  But am I supposed to see this menu as my friend didnt even know this overlay exists.

don't link your quest to pc, but use it standalone.... then you'll have the same UI as your friend and you'll also have hand tracking in games that support this feature.

I'm not sure, why you includes this old screenshot to your post.

I included the picture as it was the best i could do to show what I was seeing as I couldnt figure out a way to take a screenshot of my oculus view. As for using it standalone would the wireless steamlink then work as he told me today that it is what he uses but when I try to use it I get errors saying that the quest failed to detect steam

So your intention is to open steam? You haven't mentioned that in your first post.

You said using steam link failed.....just to confirm  - steam is installed on your pc?

You can steam also open using the Meta link app with the ui in your screenshot.

Tab on the Desktop icon on the dashboard, it'll open your pc desktop in the headset, double click the steam icon on the desktop.

And if you ever need to take screenshots with the Meta link app:

Hover over date/time on the dashboard - a menu will appear with the option "take screenshot"
