Xbox series s/x controller not working properly

Hi! I bought a series s/x controller and Xbox ultimate so I could play on the quest (I don’t have a console or pc). The controller is fully working (just tested it) and does pair with the quest. I can use the l3 stick to scroll the Xbox menu and I can use the ‘A’ key to select when I use the white dot HUD pointer. But that’s it. No other functionality so I can’t even start games. The quest is running the latest software. Help!!
