Yellow particles on display

I just bought my Meta quest 2 from someone and he claimed it was in good condition and had no issues. Upon turning in on though I discovered it was in fact not in good condition as it has yellow particles on the display. What could they been and how can potentially fix this issue?

Hi @xXLullabyXx 🙂

probably your lenses have sun damage.

Does it look similar to the pic in this thread?

Solved: My quest 2 has just got some small yellow dots app... - Meta Community Forums - 1083745

Those dots are burned into the display and won't disapear anymore.☹️

I'm not sure if support can help, since you bought the Quest used.
But you can try..... send a PM @MetaQuestSupport

click on their name to visit their profile page, then click the blue "send a message" button.

Good luck!🤞

Hi @xXLullabyXx,

Yes, that's right! As @Choleni mentioned, this sounds like a case of sun damage.

So, here are a number of tips on how you can minimize any further damage to the device:

  • Don't store or leave your headset anywhere where it can be exposed to sunlight as the lenses inside your headset can be permanently damaged from less than a minute of exposure to direct sunlight, even if it's indoors.
  • Do not use your headset outdoors.
  • If you need to transport your headset, do so in a bag or case that keeps it safe and protected from direct sunlight.

We don't want this to hold you back from enjoying your VR experience, so should you require any technical assistance or have any further questions, then don't hesitate to send us a private message and we will be happy to help!
