My 10 year old can no longer play with others in gorilla tag since the latest update. He only hears monkey sounds, cannot talk or hear others. We have re-set, updated the game. He got a message (3/31/24) when powering on that parental restrictions have been updated by meta but I cannot find anything online supporting that or telling me what has changed.
Has something changed that no longer allows under 13 to play? Is there a way to bypass?

Hi @Khkroeger 🙂
Can my Child communicate with other players?
Children are automatically restricted from communicating with or otherwise making their personal information publicly available to other players. When your Child tries to communicate with other players using voice chat, only monkey noises will be heard by other players. No voice data of your Child is transmitted.
You can find this and other things about parent managed accounts in FAQ on Gorilla tag web page

And how tf do I change that? Just because some parents are dumb and don't teach internet safety, doesn't mean we all don't.

I'm sure you do teach your children about that.
But unfortunately there is no option to change that.
Children from 10-12 can not communicate in that game.

My son who is 12 is very upset about this change and that they can't go into private servers. I teach my son internet safety and I am his parent, not Meta. He once loved this game now he says it is no fun b/c you can't really play with others if you can't communicate with them. I told him he only has a year left to put up with this nonsense.

I think there's a major disconnect between how adults perceive time and how children perceive time. When you're 30 plus, a year is nothing.
To a 10-year-old, or a 12-year-old, a year is either a 10th of their entire life, or a 12th. It is significantly more. I don't understand why adults can't seem to grasp that. In one year, they won't be playing gorilla tag. In fact, this change will ensure that the kids that really love it and want to play it, will never play it. The people running gorilla tag, have essentially decided to wipe out the game.

I understand that your children are upset about this rule, but actually, Gorilla tag is a game for 13+ and on Meta Quest 2,3 and pro 10-12 old kids can use it with restrictions.

What I want to say......if Meta haven't made the parental supervised accounts, your kids were not allowed to play the game at all.

Same issue here. 2 kids. Same family. Separate rooms and can't communicate. Surely this is my choice.....they arent happy

I'm not impressed at all. Never mind my kids. We don't live in a big house where they can play together side by side so have to be in different rooms. Aged 19 and 11 they got the things because of this game. Surely it's my choice as a parent...private server would be a big step forward....not happy. Neither are the kids

Actually the game is rated E for Everyone. If it is not intended for Everyone change the rating.
