Hi everybody, i got a quest 3 a couple weeks ago. Mainly i use it for a sailplane-sim.
i'm on v67 now. (from 65 to 66 )
Since the upper half of the picture is light blue sky in that sim or clouds most of the time, i noticed a tiny black dot, wich is in the same spot on both panels.
First i thought it was dust or an error on the prescription lenses. But even with my glasses and without the lenses the spot is visible, also without my glasses.(blurry than 😉
But its defenetly on both panels, so i would say that rules out dust.
Do you have any idea what that might be ?
thanks a lot
Christian

Hi just to follow up. I was not able to catch the issue with the screenshot. I showed the black pixels in the shop i bought it from and got an replacement, wich has not such issue.

PS. its visibly in other applications too. so it's not app-related

A tiny black dot on both panels is most likely to be sun damage

i'm absolutely know, that the quest has not seen sunlight ! And the sundamages are bigger from whot i see on other pictures. This really looks more like one pixel. I will try to make a photo.

We really appreciate you sharing your experience with the community, @ChrisKobar! It's certainly understandable how even the smallest spot can cause unnecessary distraction, and we're eager to lend a hand! Sun damage is often described as dots, spots, or dead pixels and can be easily mistaken. A photo of the spot you're seeing would be super helpful! Would you also confirm the following information regarding the spot you're seeing:

Hi there
( its only used at my desk for a flight-sim and there is no direct sunlight possible)
I'll try to makle a picture.

Wonderful. Thanks so much for confirming, and we'll look forward to the photo! In the meantime, have you also attempted rebooting and factory resetting your headset?

hi, i'm still trying to get a picture of the dead pixels. Tried with a smartphone thru the lens but that did not work.
i have to experiment more. Any tips here how to capure it ?
Just to make it clear: What is strange (in my opnion) is the FACT, that the "dead pixel" (that's how it looks like) is in the same spot on both panels. So if i'm in my virtual cockpit, the "pixel" appears to be about 1m in front of me.
So it's spatial. I doubt that this would be caused from a dead pixel (coexidently the same spot on both panels) but that maybe the GPU does not address that "area" on both panels.

Thank you @ChrisKobar for your response! Its important to get a picture of exactly what you are seeing so that we are able to provide assistance and get you back into the VR world as soon as possible. Please make sure you are holding down the facial interface and placing the phone at an angle to get a good photo of what you are seeing. Also, were you able to complete a factory reset? Be sure to enable cloud back up before completing to ensure you are saving most data and progress. We are eager to assist you!
