So after my fathers death 2 months ago I at last was able to go through his appartement and belongings an have found an Oculus Rift neatly stored in its original box (already opened and used; he's shown it to me even and let me play some avengers game. Powers united VR, i even have the scratch card where the code for it originally came from in there)
Now my first problem was that his e-mail-address/account was not recognized on the offitial page. His account data/password was written down in a notebook he kept within the oculus box, so I know the credentials are correct.
Seeing how there was no option to log in with any account name nor oculus pin (which i both have access to as well) I resigned and created a new account with my mail.
I now wanted to install the meta quest link to see how to get this thing to work. Upon initial installation I received a bluescreen shortly before/during finalization, resulting in the desktop icon being empty and unresponsive (not even putting out anything when opening the file path of the desktop icon)
Starting the installer executable again told me the quest link was already installed. Starting it through the installer told me it was faulty and I should restart the PC, which I did, and should that not work, to repair the meta qquest link.
Doing so will always end in the same bluesceen (something along the lines of unknown_exception, though I dnot know the exct wording anymore)
As a last resort I tried to receive support on the official meta.com support page but neither the serial number on the headset nor the one on the whole box is being recognized there. Always says "We couldn't find a device associated with the verification info provided. Please try again." when I literally hold the device and box in my hands...
Googling the issues either only brought up something about a bluescreen of death that doesnt seem to correlate with my problems or just nothing similar at all.
Is there any chance I might get his account/device to be recognized or worst case at least with my account get it to work at all or should I just cut my losses (of nervs and time)? I am starting to become beyond frustrated at the lack of even basic mentions of the make and model I seem to have (apparently an old/early one) as well as support being completely unavailable to me due to niether account nor devices being recognized on the official page...
Thanks in advance and best regards,
Nearosh

@Nearosh Sorry for your loss.
If it has been any length of time since the headset was last used, meta may have closed the old Oculus account as it may not have been migrated to a meta horizons accounts before March last year.
You don't mention what spec your PC is, but the software should install without issue. Having said that, the software is having a lot of issues currently, as seen by the many posts on the forum. Are there any error codes associated with the blue screen events? There are guides to do a complete and thorough uninstall of the horizon link software including data from the hidden folders, which may help with the re-installation process.
