can't remove admin account on quest pro even after factory rest

I have just bought a quest pro secondhand and even after a factory reset the previous admin account still persists

Hey there, @IanB1000! We noticed that you are needing assistance with your Meta Quest Pro since you are still seeing the original owner's account. We definitely understand the importance of erasing their data from the headset and being able to log in using your credentials. We'd be more than happy to help out! To perform a Factory Reset on a Meta Quest Pro:

 

  1. Make sure the headset is powered off. 
  2. Press both the power button and volume down buttons at the same time.
  3. Hold them and wait until you see a screen with various options on it (this doesn't look like the standard Quest Pro view).
  4. Then release the buttons.
  5. Use the volume buttons to move up and down through the various options in the menu.
  6. Highlight the option to factory reset and then press the power button to choose it.
  7. You'll then need to agree to reset the headset and that will kick the process off.

Performing a Factory Reset will delete all headset content and in-game data, to be started up as if brand new. Purchases previously made will still be linked to your Meta account. In regards to your in-game data, we do have a Cloud Backup which developers can choose to opt-in and out of anytime. The developers can also choose exactly what they would like to be uploaded to the Cloud. Please let us know if this helps to resolve your issue. I have the same issue, I followed the instructions as above, however, it doesn't work. the "android" screen explains that user data cannot be erased and that only factory setting will will take place. Can I just re-flash the firmware? If so, where do I find it?

We want to help in any way possible so that you can begin enjoying VR gaming on your Quest Pro. While re-flashing the firmware is not an option, we would like to provide you with two other options to complete a factory reset of your headset.

 

 

Factory reset from the Meta Quest mobile app:

  1. Open the Meta Quest app on your phone.
  2. Tap Devices in the bottom menu.
  3. Tap the headset connected to your phone.
  4. Tap Advanced Settings.
  5. Tap Factory Reset and then Reset.

 

Factory reset from the Meta account:

  1. Log into the Meta account profile page
  2. Go to My Devices
  3. Select the Device and click Delete Device Data
  4. Click Continue
  5. An email with a code will be sent to the customers email, they will need to enter the code and click Submit
