headset exits quest air link, then wont go back in without re-pairing.

headset intermittently exits air link rift mode, then although shows connected, when clicking launch on the headset, it tries and then returns to the home environment again, same happens if trying wired link afterwards

Tried restart link from beta tab, no joy.

I have to go to settings on the headset, turn off link, then re-pair the device again...and again...and again.

Nothing seems to be straightforward developing for this hardware.

The problem appears to be with the developer hub's proximity sensor toggle.  When toggling off, it will toggle itself back on, at which point it resets all the related settings on the quest regarding how long until it turns off, which puts the quest immediately to sleep and loses connection.

Over and over 😞

Hey there @3d-illusions.co.uk! Thank you so much for reaching out to us. We understand that you're having trouble when connecting to Air link or with link cables. It's hard to use and enjoy your headset when it consistently disconnects, so let's get to the bottom of this! We would like to ask you a few questions to get a better understanding of the issue.

  • Has Airlink ever worked in the past without disconnecting for long periods of time or has it always given you this issue?
  • Are you using a Mesh Network or WiFi extenders?
  • How close is the router when you attempt to Air link?
  • Are you connected to any VPN's while attempting the Air link?

We would also like to link an article regarding troubleshooting Air link for your reference. Any additional troubleshooting steps you have attempted would also be great to know so we're not running around in circles. We're looking forward to your response!

Thanks.

  • The airlink has worked fine until enabling developer mode.  Suspect problem is with meta quest developer hub, as it intermittently shows failed to update users on headset.
  • no extenders
  • the wifi signal is very strong (confirmed on the quest's wifi page), iphone is not disconnecting.  Wifi 6 router, and the pc is ethernet.
  • No VPNs

All troubleshooting steps futile.

Thank you so much for your response. Since you mentioned that it worked before enabling developer mode, would you be able to disable developer mode just to test? This way we can rule out if it is indeed developer mode that is the cause of this issue.

We'd recommend attempting to play something for about 30 minutes, report back to us and let us know if there were any disconnects or problems.

Thank you so much for getting back to us. Since this is related to developer mode, we only have so many resources to assist with but we would like to invite you to post on our developer forum and submit a developer bug report as there may be more information to be found and others experiencing the same issue. Although we weren't able to provide a solution for this, we want to thank you for being apart of our community and welcome you to reach back out if you have any other issues come up down the line.
