left trigger does not work in vrchat (quest 2, brand new)

I had a quest 2 before, to mainly play vrchat. after I installed ovr for playspace, my left trigger suddenly no longer works in game. I've asked others and no one there has run into the same issue. today I got a brand new quest 2, uninstalled both vrchat and ovr, and the trigger still wont work. I don't know what else to try.

Hi there, @Moxycotin! We know having controller input issues can really take the fun out of VR, so we'd be glad to lend a hand with that! To help us get a better grasp of what might be causing this for you, we'd like you to try out and answer a few things for us. When you get the chance, please go through the following:

 

  • To clarify, what specific OVR software did you install, and from where? 
  • Does the left controller trigger have input issues in all environments/apps you've tried, or do you only notice it in VRChat? If you haven't already, please test this in a different app for us!
  • Are you using your headset standalone, or connected to a PC? 
  • Please remove the battery for at least 30 minutes, and try some fresh/new AA batteries when you try again. If your controller needs a firmware update, this could help it push through. 
  • Hard reboot your headset:
    • Turn off your headset.
    • Firmly hold the power and volume down (-) buttons on your headset simultaneously for about a minute, or until the boot screen loads on your headset.
    • Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight 'Boot device' and press the power button to complete that.
