browser has suddenly stopped working on oculus go, no updates so its not thgat, crashes whenever you try to open vr. very annoying tried to re pair to app but app wont go past the heath and safety acknowledge button on set up and factpry reset isnt working in the go either.. have lots of paid apps so dont want to go down the delte data option as dont want to risk losing all ive paid for.
Ryan, Question, if the rollout has been going on for close to a week now, we should have more (if not majority of people) reports of people with this issue resolved. I'm ok waiting but would like to know that there are devs looking to fix it. Can you please give us an update from the team?
I emailed their technical customer service. 10 days ago. Not even a "friendly" "F-you".
I sent them the links to this and another site where the very same problem is being discussed. I also told them, that if, as I have a hunch, this is some Marketing stunt as Apple once pulled with an iOS up date that was to heavy for iPhone 5's to keep operating (and obviously one couldn't retrograde!), in an intent to buy a "new" set, I would NOT fall into that buyer category. FIX IT or LOOSE your customers, and that I'd rather spend my "vr" time (which they've taken away to spread the word about their business practice.
Frankly, my OculusGO now sits right next to my trash bin... ready to "GO". I'll gawk one more time into it in a month or so. After that, if it doesn't put a smile on my face, I'll be looking for a different BRAND and NOT another Oculus.
I think the battery has improved as well. Got 1 hour out of a full charge down to 48%. The latest update was crash free this time, not a single problem. Thanks Ryan.
So I’ve been following thread for awhile. I contacted Oculus support 1/14 /22 support acted like they had no idea what was going on. Requested I send them my device. However then would not send me a return label because I wouldn’t give my telephone number. Even though we were having reliable correspondence through email??? I was thinking of getting a quest 2 prior to this situation , however poor customer service/ support with obvious horrible cash grab business practice makes me question if I want to continue my relationship with Meta. I guess i will see how this works out before I make any future decisions (not that anyone actually cares)
I hope Meta corrects their horrible actions of late. I am also curious if the update fix is legit or just trying to stall us to see you if this just goes away
You're saying that you got the update? I still have not. Support chat told me it should come between the 6th and the 12th of February. They also gave me a $20 credit for the trouble. So there's that at least.
I have unlocked my oculus go by following these instructions: https://developer.oculus.com/blog/unlocking-oculus-go/ And the browser is working again. It can be a solution, if you know and accept what it means to unlock the device.
I got it the first day of the release and it worked for me. After going several weeks with a dead device, I was pleased to get my unit up and running. Over the first hour of service, it crashed 3 times. I posted my operating data to this thread to show that I had the update. From that point on, my other issue was that of "not" being able to see the device in my PC directory. This still is not possible on my newer PC. On my very old PC, I'm able to see the device and load files onto the drive. At least I'm able to use it now so I'm pleased with that. The other issue I do have is that of recommending the device to others. they aren't able to access their units and that makes me look very bad. And so the short answer is "yes" I did see the update installed and functioning almost as soon as it was released.
hi, if one starts to put software op one self they warn for 'Please note that unlocking your device is not reversible and you will no longer receive OTA updates' ... then meta/facebook/oculus has a great excuse that one is self responsible that it does not work anymore
meta/facebook/oculus just have to given an automatic update, nothing else (just as on the iphone, samsung and every normal device)
