oculus link crashes (quest 2 software issue?)

Ive never seen anyone else with this problem. After maybe 10 minutes of playing beatsaber or really anything on the quest 2 my screen will freeze and I can look around. And behind myself is a flipped upside down image of what I saw in front of me and the areas in between the images are void or stretched smeared versions of what I saw before the freeze. I have to unplug and replug the link cord back into the headset and open link again to get back and it crashes again after about 10 minutes again and then you repeat until you're too frustrated to keep trying 😛

No need to apologize, I appreciate all of the assistance I can get.

That said, I have done all of the above, across four different headsets, and the root issue is still unknown to me…

anythibg else? Is there a resource to use to interpret the logs of these crashes?

But it’s so inconsistent, and the issue isn’t with games and apps specifically, because if I just sit in the rift dash environment for some time, the same happens.

it is 100% the pc software, I just don’t know if it’s an incompatibility/app collision/just young and janky….but it’s def the pc software.

Honestly mate, I will say that a specialist would be the best resource to make use of at this point. Here's a link to get started on that.

Give the Quest 2 on that page a click, then it's totally fine to choose any option/issue to move forward.

The important bit is to get to the "Send Email" option.

Once you're there, attach your most recent logs in an email requesting they "Be reviewed by your specialist team", along with a breakdown of the the issue you're wrestling and anything you may have noticed. That will pretty much streamline you to where you want to be.

Good luck! I hope you find the answers you're looking for. Those specialists are no joke, and really know their stuff. 😎

Hello ! I have the exact same problem here 😕
Any other solution from now ? (I've already done some solution on this forum but nothing seems to work :/)
Don't know if it's a clue but the headset don't ask me "Allow access to data" anymore, I don't know why

Edit :
I tried the last resort... The Factory Reset, and well it seems to work for the moment ! The message "Allow access to data" has reappeared and oculus Link don't crash (I tried it for an hour)

Hey friend!

Goodness! Seems you found yourself in an link pickle. Fortunately for you, we aren't the biggest fans of pickles (well at least these kinds of pickles), so let's get you all sorted out and unpickled!

Air link issues can usually be traced back to an internal problem within a PC's system. For us to better understand the internals, we'll need to gather logs files. This will help us be able to look at the system and see if there is anything that isn't meshing well with the other components.

Here are the steps to gather your logs:

1.Open the Run window (Windows key + R).
2.Enter and run: C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics\OculusLogGatherer.exe
*The above link is the default directory. Bear in mind that if you installed Oculus Home to another drive you will need to update the command with the correct file path.
3.Select the checkbox next to ‘Full logs’.
4.Select "1 day" from the "Collect last" drop down list.
5.Wait for the log collection to finish. This can take some time to complete.
6.The program will automatically generate a zip file containing your logs, which will be saved to your desktop automatically.
7.Attach the newly created zip file to your next support response.

Once you have all of those logs gathered, let's get you to contact our awesome friends over at our main support channel here: https://metaque.st/Support. There they have all the needed tools to read those logs and get you back in the action!

We'll see you on the other side!

Hello! I have good news. I had this same problem. Some games was stoping after 2 minutes.

What you have to do is create a new enviroment variable on windows with this values:
Variable name: OPENSSL_ia32cap
Variable value: ~0x200000200000000

I have the exact same issue. Tried everything. Nothing works. Here is a list of things I tried:

  • Updated all drivers
  • Tried a new cable (bought a new cable to try and sort this out)
  • Updated all software
  • Turned off USB power management
  • Turned off other power management - everything is now turned on all the time
  • Turned off antivirus software
  • Upgraded my graphics card
  • Got 2 new cables and tried  / tested everything with them
  • Got a new USB card (USB 3.2) to see if that will work

My theory now is that it is an issue on the quest itself and that the link app just crashes after a few minutes. I think there is something wrong on my unit, but I have no way to validate or test this. Oculus support has not been helpful as they immidiately jumped to "your graphics card is not supported"??? OK I had a 1070 with the same issue. Really frustrating.

Why you didnt try what i said in The Last post?

It works.

What you have to do is create a new enviroment variable on windows with this values:
Variable name: OPENSSL_ia32cap
Variable value: ~0x200000200000000

Hey there, @AWhyWolf. Thanks for reaching  out and letting us know what you have tried. Having something like that happen can certainly make your VR experience come to a standstill, and we would be happy to work on this with you. We appreciate all of the work you have done; however, we'd like to ask if you have done a factory reset as well.

If you have not, here are the steps to do so:

Open the Meta Quest app on your phone.
Tap Devices in the bottom menu.
Tap the headset connected to your phone.
Tap Advanced Settings.
Tap Factory Reset and then Reset.

To perform a factory reset using the headset:

Turn off your headset.
Hold the power and volume (-) button on your headset down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Factory Reset and press the power button.
Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

Can you also send us a copy of what you're seeing on your headset?

Please let us know how it goes. We are looking forward to your reply.
