Is it planned -in the pipeline to include the M1 Chip in the list of GPU's the Oculus Link works with?. Is there a work around in the mean time?
FYI: Facts and knowledge from the Oculus team or someone who has had this problem and solved it are very appreciated. Commentary and conjecture from all and sundry is of no use whatsoever.

I'd be very surprised. Oculus software is very Windows-focussed so hardware support is too.

Doesn't make much sense, considering part of the appeal of getting an Oculus is not needing a computer to play games, you'd think naturally it would attract a lot more Mac users. I can run Dirt Rally at 120 FPS at 4k on ultra settings on the M1 Max, is that not enough to get decent performance with Oculus Link?

Oculus software requires SSE instruction sets which ARM CPUs do not have

Software incompatibilities can generally be solved with software, right?

You would need a rewritten version of the app and server for ARM coding and it would have to be maintained separately from i386/x64

Sadly it's not a software incompatiblity as simply as you think. SSE instructions are hardware encoded and ARM lack those and they can't just be handed out with more software. Based on the severely low user base of ARM users trying to run VR I can not for the life me see Meta spending the resources to make, test, release and maintain an ARM set in the near future. Maybe when the Quest 3 comes next year and ARMs gained more users that want to game

So, Apple released hardware that is incompatible with Meta's while having their own headset on the roadmap. Possibly coincidental, also not surprising.

The way of Apple is to lock everything into their own ecosystem as much as they can

Having read a lot about how the music hardware community is struggling with companies aligning compatibility with the M1 Mac's I'm assuming it would be a bigger battle for Meta to do the same with the Quest series. It seems like the M1/ARM Macs are awesome machines, but they are still pretty new even after a year or so in the market.
