oculus quest 2 stutters

Krakatoa15
Honored Guest

i bought a meta quest 2 to play dcs vr at the time it ran fine for a day the next day the headset started to stutter. used the oculus debug tool that's only temporally stops it with in hours of gaming the headset stutters. my pc spec are a AMD Ryzen 7 5700G - 16GB HyperX Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070. the game was playable with a 0.65 fov to get better frames from the debug tool . i have the MBs to 150 it seems to be fine on that but didn't solve the stutter. i then upgraded my pc and know it has - Ryzen 7 5800X3D- CORSAIR - VENGEANCE LPX 64GB- navida 3070 and still stutters at this point i believe its just the headset itself or the airlink cable my pc has the 3.0 usb support but the airlink cable is syntech link cable which was only 20 bucks. i wanna buy the 80 dollar link cable from meta at this point cuz i wanna play vr and have a good experience

Hey there @Krakatoa15! We can see that you've been experiencing some performance issues while using Quest Link.

What you're experiencing can be caused by so many different factors and we'd need more details to be 100% sure, but for now, here are some suggestions:

  • Check for any pending Windows updates (even optional ones) by accessing Settings - Windows Update
  • Update your graphics card drivers by checking the manufacturer's website
  • If you are using Oculus Tray Tool or other third party software that can make modifications to graphics or settings, please uninstall for troubleshooting purposes as these programs can cause conflicts that affect performance and display.

The next thing that we would like to ask is to check if Game Mode is enabled on your system:

  1. Open the Windows Settings menu
  2. Click on Gaming
  3. Click Game Mode
  4. Toggle Game Mode off if it’s turned on

You can also try to repair the Meta Quest Link PC Application:

  1. Go to https://www.meta.com/quest/setup/ and click Download software.
  2. Select Repair.
    • If Windows asks you if you’re sure you want to open this file, click Yes.
    • If Windows Defender prompts Windows protected your PC, click More info and then click Run anyway.
    • If your antivirus software restricts the file from opening, temporarily disable your AV and continue.
    • Please remember to re-enable your antivirus software once you've completed the repair.
  3. Allow the repair process to run, download and install.
  4. Launch the Meta Quest Link PC app.
