"Your account password has been reset" but password change page doesn't work!

So I get a random email from Oculus (my initial thought was that it was a phishing email, btw) that says my password was reset because it matched a password I used on another site. Right off the bat, I can appreciate the sentiment, but honestly it's none of Oculus' business what passwords I use on other sites. If I get hacked that's on me.

Anyway, so it tells me to go to the Oculus site and have a reset password link sent to my email, so I have the email sent. I click the link and it opens up a page where I can enter a new password - mind you that my old password is dead because they reset it, so I can't even get into my account to open a support ticket - I type in a new password and hit 'Save' and it just sits there spinning for a minute or two before finally saying "Something went wrong. Please try again."

Not very convenient at all, IMHO.

UPDATE: It finally went through. I still don't think they should be digging into what passwords I use elsewhere, that's none of Oculus' business.

When they send you that email, it means that the password in question has already been compromised. They monitor sites where hacked passwords are posted and check them against login credentials for their own site.

You may may want to change that password wherever else you may have used it, if you haven’t already done so.

Actually if you get hack - that is on them - so actually they are doing their job really well to be honest. Guess who takes the CC hit if you call in saying you didn't buy xyz and who takes the hit when your private information is spill online.

I've see this passwords:) it's not hard to get passwords from users when a minor site gets hack sadly. Yahoo was hack and a large number of passwords for example was also posted online. Netflix as well was hack not too long ago as well, but I am sure they didn't say anything:)

IMO - as a network administrator - it's up to YOU to make sure the password you are using is going to be unique for each log in, but as a human - that is nearly impossible to do and remember every password we use so we get lazy. Either way, take it was useful helpfulness and move on. You might feel like this was a spy on - but you are totally forgetting how easy it was to find your password online as it was. Maybe you should me more worried about how much more information is out there on you that you didn't know about.
