"Your storage is full" error

I have a Quest Meta 3 (512GB version) with 412GB of 512GB free (i.e. only 100GB used). I bought the headset, new, directly from Meta via Amazon.

I have an update for an app that requires 4.58GB of storage yet whenever I try to download the app, I receive a message that, "Your storage is full" and suggesting applications that can be uninstalled. There should be roughly 412GB of space available yet I keep getting this message.

Have you  tried uninstalling the app then reinstall instead of trying to update it. Make a backup of your game save first.

Hey there,

We see you're having issues with a low storage error. That's never fun, but here's something you could try to resolve this:

 Clear Cache:

  • In the Quest 3's settings, navigate to "System" and then "Storage."
  • Find the option to clear the cache for specific apps or the entire system.
  • This can free up significant space that apps temporarily store while running.

I will give this a try, but I have a 512GB headset that is clearly showing that it has 412GB FREE (i.e. Only 100GB used), so I don't see why it should EVER be reporting a lack of space.

Hi again,

You should definitely not be receiving that error if you have so much available space on your device. We will need to investigate this further.

We would like to, in the meantime, suggest that you try a hard reboot for your device:

  1. Hold down the power button and volume down button for 30 seconds until you hear the boot-up sound
  2. If the boot-up sound is not heard:
    1. Hold the power and volume (-) button down simultaneously until the boot screen loads on your headset.
    2. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight "Boot Device" and press the power button.
    3. Use the volume buttons on your headset to highlight Yes and press the power button.

If you still have no success after trying this step, we would like you to send us a DM so that we discuss this more closely with you.
