So I use my quest 3 fo pc vr, (using quest link) - specifically DCS. All over cabled connection - official meta cable into a ubs 3.1 connection. PC is an amd ryzen 5 with 64 gig of ram nvme pcie 4 and a new nvidia 4070 super. All fully up to date driver wise. No background tasks going on like windows updates / steam etc.
I've noticed a potential performance issue and I've been experimenting with dcs settings/ mission settings to see if its a load issue etc. The issue is clearly bandwidth lag issue as i get lag between the left and right eye refresh so you end up with a view that looks out of focus / almost a dizziness effect where screen refresh isn't in sync.
Now I've done lots of testing and it happened with both v 0.62 and 0.63 updates. It seems to occur at semi random times in dcs - sometime literally getting into helicopter - other times after 5 mins, sometimes not at all. It doesn't seem to matter if i run at recommended graphic settings ie 72 hz refresh or 80 or even 90.
If i hold my head still the problem clears after a second or two but moving it the problem immediately re-appears.
What I have found though is if i quit dcs - the issue is sill present when connected and looking at the pc desktop - with tearing present on screen. If I then disable quest link the problem clears while just in none pc mode and reconnecting to the pc via quest link problem is gone (again looking at the desktop). I then fire up dcs and its rock solid stable again (no changes), and i've then flown for 30+ mins no issues at all.
The fact that the tearing on screen is still present after i quit dcs tends to suggest to me a driver issue on the meta side - given the lack of load going on at that point.
Anyone seen similar issues ??

just to add - when the problem is occuring if i don't move my head the image stabilises after a second or two but moving my head you get the problem again..

Hi there,
I am having a similar issue. Did you ever get a fix for it?

Hi Wmundstock,
We understand that you are having some problems with your Quests where the display is not as it should be.
Could you provide us with a bit more information so we can get a better picture of what is going on. If your connection with Link looks choppy, has a stuttering screen or dropping frames try the following:
If you're still experiencing issues after attempting the above could you please give us the below information so we can look in to this further:
- What device are you using?
- What are you seeing? Are you able to provide us with a photo or video?
- What cable are you using? Are you using the official cable provided with the Quest?
We await your response!

Hi! Thanks for reaching out.
I don’t see a “reset to defaults” option, but currently, I have the Quest 3 set to 72Hz (recommended) and auto resolution (also recommended).
To be honest, I’m not entirely sure if VR is the root cause of the issue, but here’s what I’ve observed:
I’m using the Quest 3 connected to my PC via a USB-C 3.2 cable (not the official Meta cable). I launch DCS from Steam using the Oculus VR MT Preview. Occasionally, when it launches, I see the VR splash screen (not the desktop one) with a broken image icon. I’m not sure if this is relevant, but I thought I’d mention it.
When I load a campaign or mission, I see the loading image. If I move my head during this time, the image goes a bit crazy—it's like it's being redrawn with some overlaps. However, once the loading is complete, everything returns to normal.
During the mission, things usually start off fine. But after some time in flight, I begin to notice stutters. These seem to coincide with spikes in Wi-Fi usage. What’s strange is that the stutters occur consistently in the same areas if I play the mission similarly.
When a stutter happens, the VR display shows the hourglass icon for a second or so before returning to normal. This pattern repeats intermittently, with some periods being worse than others.
I’ve made some setting changes that I’ll be testing today. I’m starting to suspect that this issue might not be solely VR-related but could involve something else in conjunction with VR.
I’ll continue testing and share the results here. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Walter
