You can just use an old application, called GoProVRPlayer (I think the last is version 3.0). And you can run this app on the PC to stream the video to the headset with airplay, without other applications (It use SteamVR).
The problem is this application is old, so not all formats are supported. But I haven't found other free app to do that.
