v76 Link Problems

dwineinger
Explorer

I used my sim rig with my Oculus 3 link PC all week.  Jumped on tonight and noticed the v76 link update and yep, unplayable.  Repaired the Link software on the PC several times, uninstalled, reinstalled, did a factory reset on the Oculus, still unplayable.  Any suggestions?

I don't feel good about posting this. I did everything Meta customer service suggested I do, in addition to everything else I did, which was alot. Essentially reinstalling Windows, factory reset the Oculus several times, reinstalling Link App several times…..still having problems. As mentioned in my previous post, I used a USB-C to USB-A cable to my USB-A port and it worked. It just didn't seem like it was smooth and had some dropped frames, decided not to race with it. I tried a 2 foot USB-C cable…and it appeared to work. So I drove to Best Buy Sunday morning, bought a new 16 foot Link Cable…exactly the same cable that I had that doesn't work, just new….and it works. I raced my Sunday Night Cup league, 145 laps at Texas, 43 drivers….worked the whole time. I still think there is something not right with the USB-C port…..something with that last update from Meta screwed something up my USB-C port but this seems to work. I turned off updates and I will leave it like that until it stops working or everyone on this thread says on new update fixes it:)

dude, I'm on a link via a cable; after 1-15 mins it freezes, every time. The update broke Link in virtually every way possible

v76 needs a doctor asap. Same issue - worked fine before

There was an update to link this morning and now it works again as usual - desktop Link is now on 76.0.0.452.315
Edit: too bad that fix isn't stable. After a few hours, problem is back again and have to use the virtual desktop-solution again

Edit2: I'm testing a 'fix' that seems to work. Crossing fingers. See here https://communityforums.atmeta.com/t5/PCVR-Link-Development/Link-Not-Working/m-p/1317023#M26392

@dwineinger  So you bought a new link cable and now link is working fine.  My official link cable is also working fine with both my QPro (my main sim headset) and Q3 (mainly standalone and wireless PCVR with Air Link) with v76.

Sounds like your old cable and/or connectors were the problem imho.  I don’t think v76 update was causing this.  Anyway, glad you’re up and running again mate.  Cheers.
