The gaze cursor disrupts multiple use cases for the Quest. It ruins both gamepad usage and passive applications like video apps.

I understand that this is a "safety" feature to allow for an option when all connected controllers are not available (broken, stolen, etc.). A good option would be to allow disabling the feature until the next time the device wakes from sleep or powers on. If that's not possible, maybe a way to temporarily disable a controller from sleeping (which is what causes the gaze cursor to appear during passive apps). Gamepad input should be sufficient to make selections in the UI, so it should count as a connected controller and not cause the gaze cursor to activate.

Please do something. Let us know it's on the backlog and not being treated as a "feature" that we are stuck with forever.

Since VR headsets now have enough pixels to see things clearly, I decided to use them as a larger monitor when playing games on PC.

The resolution and screen size is perfect however from the Rift app on PC, it automatically tracks your head orientation and places it as a cursor on your PC screen. That function makes games unplayable even though it has perfect potential to become excellent gaming gear. The refresh rate of 90hz or 120hz is good enough for almost every game, but that single function of being unable to turn off the head-tracked cursor limits its potential.

Imagine everyone buying your headset instead of multiple expensive gaming monitors Meta. You guys are missing out on your profit and possible new business expansions.

Being able to disable the cursor while I have a Bluetooth controller connected should be added.

Being able to turn off the head tracked cursor regardless of controller states would benefit the watching of movies. If we don’t move for a while the cursor appears and activates the local menu of some players. Frustrating!

yes! i specifically bought quest 3 to use it as a big virtual monitor and the cursor makes it impossible. put an option to disable it pls. if you say that it is needed in case no input device is connected, then put a macro to re.enable it like pressing volume up+down

"Being able to turn off the head tracked cursor regardless of controller states would benefit the watching of movies."

And benefit for using Remote Display app as well. Right now, if we lose track with controllers or hand, the pointer shows up and dims the display.. Annoying

the stupid cursor dot keeps making videos unwatchable. every time my controller turns off, boom  Shakey white dot in frame.

im just trying to watch youtube and i am getting more than a little pissed off that the os doesn't understand why i may not like that.

That's kinda a big deal.

how about a toggle to turn that off in quick settings

you can set it to be on when the headset turns on, or restarts, so you don't get stuck if your controllers malfunction.

but turn off center cursor with a toggle while is certain apps

yes i agree, obviously the quest is designed to watch media, any shows/movies i watch through browser will have the huge dot appear over and over breaking immersion. if it needs to be there incase no controllers as a backup atleast allow us to make it transparent or something.

It also interupts videos, and remote display applications constantly. This makes them essentially unusable for me.

I'm facing this issue when using the remote display app.

I'm trying to work using my bluetooth keyboard connected to my mac, and every minute or so i'm either having to pick up the controller or toggle my bluetooth keyboard to my headset and move the quest 3 cursor.

This small issue actually renders my entire use case for remote display almost unusable as it's irritating as hell and causes me to constantly lose focus whilst i'm working.

I noticed this has been flagged as an issue in the community forums for 3+ years... which doesn't fill me with much hope that this will be sorted any time soon!
