The gaze cursor disrupts multiple use cases for the Quest. It ruins both gamepad usage and passive applications like video apps.

I understand that this is a "safety" feature to allow for an option when all connected controllers are not available (broken, stolen, etc.). A good option would be to allow disabling the feature until the next time the device wakes from sleep or powers on. If that's not possible, maybe a way to temporarily disable a controller from sleeping (which is what causes the gaze cursor to appear during passive apps). Gamepad input should be sufficient to make selections in the UI, so it should count as a connected controller and not cause the gaze cursor to activate.

Please do something. Let us know it's on the backlog and not being treated as a "feature" that we are stuck with forever.

This. This has been an issue for SO long now. There needs to be a way to disable that feature altogether. If it's just a matter of "it needs to work in the case that it needs to work" then make it re-enable on startup! Many people, myself included, either didn't even know how to click with the stupid thing! There has to be an option to disable it in quick settings or at LEAST in the settings somewhere.

Meta, stop dropping the ball!

I would go further and ask for a quick way to force/override how we want to interact.
  - Headset cursor
  - Hands
  - Controllers
  - Nothing in the way (for passive media watching with peace of mind an no annoying accidental clicks) or floating things over the screen.

I have already expressed my annoyance with the head tracking dot in the forum. Please put an option to permanently disable it.

The HMD comes standard with 2 controllers and in my opinion the sensible default would have been the dot to be off

The white dot that shows up when hands are not seen for a bit and when controllers are not active is extremely annoying when watching media. There desperately needs to be an option to disable it. I can't imagine it would be very hard, please add an option to disable it.

With the Apple vision Pro now released most users are showing videos of them using virtual desktops as the main feature. Meta has the opportunity to capitalize on this technology at a tenth of he price. I don't know what the Quest developers are thinking by not allowing this headset cursor to be disabled but it seems like a brainless idea to not allow it to be disabled. Meta will be left in the dust if they don't start using common sense. Between this and the incompatibilities with 40 series Nvidia graphics cards it really makes one wonder about their decision making skills.

I agree there needs to be a way to turn it off until the next time the headset wakes up. Watching videos is an absolute PAIN with the cursor showing up every 2 minutes.

I bought the quest 3 to use as a monitor replacement since meta had advertised remote display and steam link, etc..

On my first attempt to play a game on virtual desktop on the quest 3, the camera is glitched and spins around, completely unusable.

Then I tried to just watch youtube, also unusable, the mouse cursor spazzes around and pops up menus and causes all kinds of weird behavior.

For me on quest 3, even holding the controller doesn't help.  The device simply can't be used to control the PC adequately.  I will have to return the device if you can't fix this, a search reveals that users have been asking you for this for years
